I don't understand why people are so touchy when it's said that the Toyota Center is lacking enthusiasm. It's a fact. I have been to a lot of arenas and I have watched a lot of basketball on TV. Over the last 4 years, only Phillips Arena has been as listless and this year the Hawks are doing good so that arena is improved a lot. I think Toyota center has without question the least energy and enthusiasm per fan that shows up. Even a couple of half-full arenas like the Clippers and the Grizzlies are louder. When a coach intervenes to improve the atmosphere like JVG did, you know it's bad. You can argue the reasons why it's bad, but don't say it's not bad. The fans pay good money, so it's their right to act any way they want, but if I wasn't a Rox fan, I would not watch Toyota center games.
In the words of Peter Griffin: Lower level toyota center fans, are a worst buzz kill, than Buzz killington
Other areas of contenders don't have these problems with the lower bowl. The only reason people show up late at Staples Center (I live in LA) is due to traffic. I watch the Rockets everytime they're in town (Lakers or Clippers) and I can assure you the Rocket fans who show up are more enthusiatics than the garbage in Houston.
I been to several arenas myself, including the heat, bulls, spurs, mavs, jazz, hornets, suns arenas and the only arena that truly sucked like ours was the heats
I used to explain to myself why people left early, and the reason was traffic. Then I think...getting out of the Toyota Center isn't bad at all. Rush hour traffic is bad, getting out of the Reliant Stadium is bad. Toyota Center? C'mon, that's cake.
Think about it. If they hadn't left, they would have saw Yao shoot a 2 pointer with 2 seconds on the clock when we were down 3. Beating traffic.
1-6 in close games.. I guess I don't blame them. They haven't given enough reason to stay at that point.
Have to bump this. Looks like a lot of Houstonians failed math. A 3-5 point lead or deficit and the game is over for them. What in the world is so important outside of the game that hundreds of people have to leave? I had to yell at them to stay tonight. TC looked empty when Brewer hit that shot. **** all those people that left.
No, you really didn't have to bump this. And what's so important? How about their lives? It's just a basketball game. They paid their money for the ticket. The only people that should care are the players on the court.
PROBABLY FRUSTRATED, THEY EXPECTED TO SEE THE OVERACHIEVING ROCKETS AND WHAT THEY SAW WAS THE REALISTIC HOUSTON ROCKETS, PURE FRUSTRATION
I KNOW! Watching at home when Landry started to shoot free throws you could see people filling out like it was a huge lead.
Well, it may be true that they are not ideal fans, but there can very easily be other important things outside of the game: family, job. . . . Some people have to get up really early and go to work etc. At least they showed up and paid for a ticket, or somebody paid.
Again, my earlier statement. And also, it WAS a game against the Wolves, who have no star power. Pretty much 98% of people would rather show to up see LeBron James rather than Wayne Ellington.
Many teams in the NBA do not have trouble keeping their fans in seats no matter what team they are playing. Houston has notoriously had this problem ever since they moved into the TC.
