Results do matter. I agree that luck and circumstance play a big role in success in pro sports, but at the end of the day Morey simply hasn't had big success.
If you want to give Morey an incomplete in comparison, that's fine. But there's no guarantee that his plan is going to lead to as much success as Riley's. You can't say Riley's biggest acquisitions were all luck and Morey's were part of his genius plan. Was it luck that Dwight decided to come to Houston? Was it luck that Ariza decided to come to Houston? Maybe Dwight just loved the city or it really was Parson's influence? Do you give Morey credit for the Harden trade and not give Riley for the Shaq trade? At least his led to a championship. I knew I should have checked the Stevens stat before posting it LOL. My bad on that.
Yup, I definitely call for Morey's head every year. You damn Moridiots. LOL It's cute you're a dumbass Moridiot!
Larsv8, the biggest of them all! Next time he criticizes or says something bad about the Rockets will be the first. I'll do as I please but thanks!
1.) Not having losing seasons 2.) Putting together two separate contending rosters 3.) Being able to lure premiere free agents 4.) Trading for premiere players. 5.) Great cap management Morey has been an excellent GM, with a very clear direction and philosophy, while being hindered by an over zealous owner. You are not going to find a replacement for Morey who is better than him at being a GM.
I think Riley is overrated but still good. It is a tough year for Morey and the Rockets and its easy to get down on him right now, but overall I think Morey has been very good. Lets see what he does this summer. I bet good things. I think Morey would have been able to achieve what Riley did in Miami if he was in his shoes there, but not sure Riley would have been as adept as Morey to make the daisy chain of trades to build up the talent base considering the Rockets couldn't tank. BTW, Lebron left Miami because of Riley's failings to infuse the roster with fresh blood to keep the train rolling. In a cost cutting move (after championships) Riley cut Lebron's friend Mike Miller. And then Riley took a shot at Lebron to "stay if you got the guts." Riley's hubris caused Lebron to leave. And then Riley traded 1st round picks (unprotected) for Dragic. But Riley won't be around when the Heat have to give those up so why does he care?
Riley also has strict weight training requirements in his contracts, a player like Harden wouldn't come into the season out of shape because then he wouldn't get paid.
I actually enjoy J.R. opinions. They actually have historical & current references. Keep posting opinion bro
