I say NO to O'Neal !! Well past his prime and is a lazy player on the court. Also gets injured too much! Would be a mistake to waste such a trade on O'Neal
Well, Compaq Center is a 25 year old venue. It was in the mold of the older-generation arenas that didn't have all the frills and glamor the new ones have. There's really no comparison between ANY of the arenas today, and Compaq Center. That's like comparing Reliant Stadium to the Astrodome. And I would HIGHLY suggest going to Toyota Center....I would be willing to bet it stands toe-to-toe with AAArena.
It sure is. As I said, the only reason to do it, is as a last resort......or if picks came too...or to get under the Lux tax. DD
He's not broke, nor is his jumper. Just because his ppg has dropped from 30 to 25 doesn't mean he's broke and his assist level has gone down from 7 to 5 doesn't mean he can't pass. Even his rebounding has dropped that doesn't mean he lost his hands and can't snag the ball anymore. That's just his way of backing off and letting the others fill in and get themselves into the game, instead of sitting back and watching him go to work. He's fine, he just doesn't like it there anymore.
Everyone disses Jermaine O'Neal saying "we could get more for TMac" - what if we can't even get JO? I cannot see why the heat would make this move. They have plenty of other 'height' in the C position, but none of it is any use.
that was me that asked if he saw tracy being dealt and thats what he replied, so dont expect anything soon, and i really doubt JO will be a rocket, if morey makes this move, in morey i no longer trust, we dont need a one legged big man, that will not help improve the team. if we trade tmac, which i hope we dont, we need to get a young defensive stopper, someone like thabo shefolosa mindset, anthony randolph would be another good fit, if it aint cbosh, or all start center, no need to trade for one, as he will not fit in the rotation and adelman system.
agreed come next year Oneal is useless. As we'd have Yao. Both have similar contracts so what'd be the difference if he stayed? What's 22mil off the books versus mcgrady's 23 mil especially with the insurance?
Straight up would be a stupid trade. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jermaine_oneal/career_stats.html http://www.nba.com/playerfile/tracy_mcgrady/career_stats.html Guy is 5 years past his is prime years as far as production and has only played 3 years worth of play time in 6 years. He makes T-mac look like iron man. He won't help our team much. T-mac atleast is a unknown factor. Maybe bad maybe great. This guys getting pay'd that amount of money for what hes done during that contract is a joke.
Yeah, I was wondering about about a Ronnie Brewer type player. Which would be part of a bigger trade if Tmac were involved, and maybe something that Utah would bite on if it saved them some luxury tax $$.
Tmac for O'neal will be great!! O'neal can play behind Yao or even along Yao as a PF. Also O'neal allow Scola and Hayes to play their natural position at PF. We reaaally don't need Tmac. This team will do with Yao coming back and this team is more effective with Yao as the offense. With Tmac and Yao, the team is erratic and unpredictable as demonstrated last year. With Yao ONLY, this team is DEADLY and consistent throughout..also competitive. Why not use Tmac to get another superstar.
Because no team with a superstar would even consider trading that player for McGrady. We aren't getting Al Jefferson, Kevin Martin, Michael Redd, Caron Butler, Chris Paul, Chris Bosh, etc. It's nonsensical to trade a high performing star to get back a much higher paid former star whose return to All Star play is dubious. The guys that other teams are going to be offering are the likes of: Eddy Curry, Larry Hughes, Jermaine O'Neal, Chris Kaman, Peja Stojakovic, Sam Dalembert, etc. The best case scenario is getting back a short term (2 years or less) high salary and a good contributor making fair value in return. An acceptable scenario is swapping out McGrady for a guy like Jermaine O'Neal (rental help at center, financial wash) plus a sweetner (2nd rd pick, Chris Quinn, Wright). A shaky scenario is playing out the year with McGrady. Maybe he returns to form in a month and gets us going. Maybe he he doesn't quite return to form but disrupts the flow of the offense by being an inefficient ball stopper again. It's a gamble. Here's hoping for the best.
