I'd be very happy to make a tipjar bet that McGrady does not sign a new contract with Houston (barring S&T) at any price. I don't believe that line from him for a single second. FA posturing.
From Ric Bucher's twitter..... RicBucher Since someone asked: Heat never called Hou @ TMac. Mia would love to get Battier, but I don't see that happening, either.
It would take extraordinary set of events for T-mac to remain a rocket into next season. 1. Adelman would have to be happy and convinced his work ethic turned around 2. Everyone would have to see he really has returned to form 3. T-mac would have to show that he consistantly does the right things both off and on the court 4. Most importantly - he clearly makes this team a lot better And number 4 is the key. That's the question - if the first 3 happen, and it's obvious that the team plays better with him on the court....Morey will have a tougher decision to make come Feb. But Morey would love to have that decision to make. What GM woudn't?
People in Miami already talking about McGrady Well to start off, I live in Miami but I despise the Heat and love my Rockets. So Anyway, the company I work for, works at the AAA, so yes I worked the Heat games, and I was there last night, and THe announcers were already talking about how McGrady will fit into the offense, How the starting line-up is going to be and if they are going to re-sign T-Mac and Wade next year. Im really starting to think this trade is going down
I heard Wade was unhappy and that he hasn't been speaking up in the locker room like he did before, hasn't been taking over games, or been the leader he was last year just to see if someone would step up to do just that. If we do move McGrady to Miami it will benefit us most cause he does none of those things and Wade will opt out.
I think Morey will hold out a while to see if we can get more for him than O'neal.... I would see the Miami deal as a last resort. DD
Wade, by his standards, is having a terrible year. Maybe not terrible according to stats, but by what we've grown accustom to here in Miami. His emotional play and dominating 4th quarters are few and far between. And not only that, but his community work hasnt been there like normal. He is not happy with Miami right now, that's for sure.
Why should the rockets help the heats make Wade happy there? If Wade is not happy there, he could sign with the rockets next summer.
Its not about O'Neal its about matching expirings and maybe getting some picks or a prospect like Wright. O'Neal does give you a 7fter to throw out there and might actually be decent next to Yao if he resigned (he wouldn't).
Morey won't do anything 'big'. He likes the current group of guys we have.. Expect something small, if anything.
I really don't see him staying in Miami because (salary cap aside) I don't look at the Heat team and say "wow, they have some talent on that team besides Wade". Beasley, up to this point, has been an enigma of sorts by his inconsistencies and everyone else on that roster (Chris Quinn?? Are you kidding me?!) is ho-hum. I think Miami trading O'neal to the Knicks for Harrington/Lee would do both teams a huge favor.
Yep. He mails it in for the first 3 quarters, and then if he's motivated enough, he'll kick it up a notch in the 4th. It's like he's saying to the Heat "You guys get us close to a win as possible for the first 36 minutes and I'll see whether or not I want to add anything else in there"
