Trade for J'Oneal is not about future. It is more about this season. J'Oneal has size that we are lack of, and could give us more option in both end of the court than Hayes and Andersen. Shooting guard is not an issue for us right now, 5 is.
This is the $23,000,000.00 question...If DM/RA think it can help us achieve "something" this year then its a good move to provide an inside presence because as we saw last night our defensive boards are hurting. Thing is that if this is truly a throw away year, developmental, then this makes no sense as we are stuck in the same place with an overpayed athlete with a expiring contract just being healthier.
I dont think a trade with the intention of only improving this season is wise. Any trade we make will be about the future.
And Portland does this deal because?! You have to think of the deal from all sides before throwing out this crap.
If I had a dime for every time someone said, "If TMac goes to Houston they win a championship in the next few years ...
and what does J'On do for us this year? Does he provide us the final piece to a championship puzzle? I'm sorry, I'm just trying to figure out why a man like Morey, who thinks of today and tomorrow, would do a trade that only benefits today and barely does that.
I've already explained it. You must be ignorant of Portland's situation if you are asking why in that tone.
Your post lost all credibility when you said T-Mac and his entire 8 minutes of basketball showed you how he wouldn't slow down the offense.
Actually Tmac initiated 2 fast break buckets He didn't slow it down at all, don't know why you would complain about his play. It was fine, especially for someone who hasn't played in 10 months and coming of an injury. Do people expect him to play like Brooks now?
TMac is not helping us in this season, and probably will not in the next season. Why will Morey not do the trade? It is an option but not the best interests of the team to wait the contract expiring.
Like JO? Doesn't that put us back in the same boat? IN one place you say we should trade him for better assets and in another you say it's ok to trade him for an expiring contract which could just walk away like T-mac might. And you forget that T-mac loves Houston and would probably resign for a lot less to stay.
thanks for saving me the time of responding. i lost all credibility anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered.
I have witnessed Jermaine O'Neal's play this season on league pass. In my opinion, O'neal would not penetrate the Rocket's frontcourt rotation of Carl Landry, Luis Scola, David Anderson and Chuck Hayes. To express my opinion rather bluntly, Jermaine O'Neal is playing like a d******d.

Look, if there is a trade that can actually make us better - I'm all for it. I don't think JO is that trade. Adelman's offense may not be the greatest fit for T-mac but you know, there's still a role for him in it. Particularly when defenses begin to collapse on Brooks. I think there is a reason why Adelman plays Brooks and Lowry significant minutes with T-mac in. Having someone who can dribble penetrate from the wing will open up brooks game a lot more than Ariza is able to do. If T-mac is willing to do that, I think he can work out. But if you want to trade T-mac for a guy who can do that - fine. I'm all for it. But this trade - for JO - I'd rather go with the devil I know that has brings something unique to the table than someone who we don't know. I really think T-mac is a better fit for us than Ariza truth be told.
