Who better than Fran Blinebury to discuss dead things from the past still lingering around the Rockets in the present.
I remember that 2004 series... that was WAY closer than the 4-1 win (or most of the media) would lead you to believe. If a couple calls went our way, or if Jimmy Jack makes that three at the end, we take one in LA... Then we were just a minute or two away from getting game 4 in Houston. That could have very well been a 3-1 Houston lead. ... Guess that's just the story of our playoffs the last decade or so. Also can't forget the 2-1 lead over Utah in 98 -- the Barkley injury killed those hopes. And I remember a terrible call at the end of game 1 in LA in 99 costing us that game... SO much s***ty luck for this team over the past 12 seasons. But it's all going to end this year.
Of course it's you Fran, you're always looking at the negatives. I should have known there wasn't anyone else as pathetic to right this article.
Personally I think the pressure is on the Blazers now even though we're up. We've had so many recent 1st round faulters that outside of TRUE Houston Rocket fans hardly anyone thinks we can win this series since we didn't close out game 5. I'm going into this as we're underdogs =) GO ROCKETS!!!
He's right. If the Rockets lose in the first round again this year, I don't think this team can take it. It might be the end for this era of Rockets basketball.
Why diss Fran when he's 100% accurate and addresses the points made on this board why we lost the game ?? He points out AB's turning a blind eye to Yao, the terrible shooting of AB, the play of Artest and not giving Yao the ball. Also the silly fouls the Rockets picked up. Nothing wrong with what he wrote because in the back of Houstonians minds there is 1 thing that will stay there until we win game 6: not getting out of the first round in 12 years. Yes, he does exaggerate but that's what he's supposed to do. He's writing a juicy piece and has to in order to keep his job. Thanks for the link, nice read.
There's a reason why Fran no longer posts on the Houston Chronicle, I think this article would be an example. I'm more of a fan of Feigen and Solomon. Richard Justice sounds like a T-Mac homer half the time.
complain all you want but it's the damn truth. this team has C-H-O-K-E-D in the playoffs over the past 12 years... ignore it all you want, but it won't make it disappear.
