At this point, 10:15 pm According to the ast leader chart on espn, there are only 6 players with more assist than Brooks had tonight, and if the numbers don't mean anything then him taking 22 shots doesn't mean anything, *claps* at your failed point.
Clutchfans just needs a new whipping boy now that you know who is out of town. Guess its going to be aaron brooks now.
Martin can actually hit the open three and he gets hot in the second half... why dont we start lowry, brooks, ariza, scola, armstrong and let post defense make up for the poor backcourt defense, then swap in martin, cbud, jeffries, etc. off the bench? i think that brooks and lowry could b a strong combo, but adelman never does it... one of the only times ive seen him do it was game 2 against the lakers last year, brought lowry in with brooks at the start of the second quarter and they made a double digit deficit a tie by halftime... plus this starting lineup would give us good passing (lowry), good scorer (brooks), good defender (ariza) and scola and armstrong should make a good combo in the front court, i mean i think its at least worth a try, i think it would give teams a lot of problems
Since Yao, Tmac, and Landry stopped suiting up for us. You do realize that he leads the team in ppg now right?
He has the ball so much in his hands that sometimes he can't help but get accidental assists at times when he can't get a shot off. "Facilitate" is not in his vocab right now.
We need our offense to depend on Brooks not only to score but to set other players up to score. It's almost as if he's trying to take the team on his shoulders when things get rough. Brooks is a good player, but he's no superstar and in no place to be trying to "will us to victory." Aside from the 5 turnovers, there were a number of possessions where Brooks tried to create his own shot, found nothing, and dropped it off to a guarded teammate who didn't have enough time left on the clock to make anything meaningful happen. Brooks has to be more willing to call someone's number other than his own as a first option earlier in the possession. This mentality was passable when he was playing next to Battriza, But now he's got another scoring threat next to him on the perimeter, and it's new to him. Martin's having a tough time getting himself mentally acclimated to the Rockets and getting his shot to fall, but Brooks certainly isn't doing him any favors.
Lol okay, another person that looks at the boxscore and go look at all those points and assist!?! Ignoring all the times Brooks dribbles right into 3 people while Martin stands at the 3 point line wide open.
you are absolutely sadly correct. It's like AB is mad that Carl isn't under the basket anymore. I say trade him of ask him to come off the bench.
I disagree with people who think Brooks can't be a quality starting point guard. Brooks can play and totally deserves to be in the NBA. However, he needs a SG with handles who can utilize Brooks' strong quality which is to score. I may get flamed for this but Brooks today would work well with Tmac of old. A tall SG would can facilitate the offense. That's why Adelman has used Brooks and Lowry together at times but both of them are undersized. My biggest concern is that if we somehow obtain a 3rd piece to the puzzle via sign and trade and Yao comes back healthy, can Brooks run an offense that doesn't require him to be the #1 option.
Brooks has no business being a starting point guard on a championship contender. The way I look at it, Brooks might have played his last games as a Houston Rocket. Expect him to be traded in the offseason. Lowry is the future, Aaron is the past!
WTF? How does that work? Martin can crossover people but he doesn't have hadles? Martin is 6'7!?! he can pass too. I saw him pass the ball back to AB who continued to dribble the clock down and do nothing. Brooks can't run an Offense to save his life.
Man, this is absurd. Has anyone considered that Kmart is new, Jeffries is new, Hill is new, Armstrong is new, and they need time to develop chemistry? Didn't anyone here ever play ball? BTW Brooks is the 2nd highest scoring starting PG in the entire league..... Ah never mind...lol.... SHEESH ! DD
Of course he doesn't. But I bet he'd be a great scoring spark off the bench. It's just a matter of getting him to accept that kind of role.
I hear what you're saying but even teammates with little to no chemistry actually will pass the ball to each other. Brooks was clearly not looking to pass to Martin.
Actually yes. Brooks does not have any vision for a PG. Either that or he just refuses to pass the ball. It really doesn't have much to do with Martin being new...he's standing right there open, he's your SG which means he's probably a good shooter...you don't go dribbling the ball into 2 people unless you plan to pass it out...which he doesn't... He's a scorer but if we do get Bosh/Amar'e he can't be the starting PG for this team.
