I started to record whole games, but they take up way too much space (when I fall behind in cutting and compressing them).

    Capture Machine:

    AMD XP 2600+ (2 GHZ)
    768 MB PC2700 RAM
    250+ Gigs HD
    Windows XP
PVR Plus (capturing software) Cheap software, came with my card. It works, but I am hoping to get a hold of some better software.

I have been capturing in MPEG2.

    Capture machine (MythTV):
    AMD 1 GHz
    256 Mb PC2100 RAM
    160 Gb 5400 RPM HD
    Fedora Core 1
    Hauppauge WinTV 401

I capture at 480x480, which amounts to 1.1 Gb / hour. I've captured Texans and Rockets games without any problems, and the quality is good. MythTV does a pretty good job automatically cutting out the commercials too. It's attached to a TV, and I control it with a remote.

I'm planning to buy a hardware MPEG2 encoder now that I've got a DVD burner, so I will barely have to edit video at all to archive it.
