I don't get why people think these bands are so great. I listen to them based on this board and was more than disappointed. From what I heard The Flaming Lips sound a lot better.

imo, arcade fire was far and away the best act last year. no one even came close. i didnt like the record till i saw them live and now i love it.

wilco - ive always loved them, but nels cline takes them to a whole new level of awesomeness.
    firey furnaces
    tortoise
    black crowes
    thievery corp
    built to spill
    roky erikson
    m83

this year looks pretty good too though.

It's an aquired taste. I didn't like them the first time I heard them. They just really grew on me after seeing Friday Night Lights (they did the music).

I just tried Sigur Ros again on Pandora. Nope, It is soo sappy and pretentious I can't take it. I had to play some Butthole Surfers to set the universe straight again. Oh well.

Oh my, I saw Mogwai in NYC last week. One of the greatest shows ever. The bagpipes at the beginning of the show was great. Sam Endicott of The Bravery was standing next to me the whole time, and I never realized it until the end.

Ahh, I could listen to Mr. Beast and Young team on repeat for the rest of my life. I swear, I thought the lead guitarist was going to explode he was so intense! They didn't play the opening track from the new album though, Auto Rock...it's my fave besides "Friend of the Night"

ima_drummer...you must hear those two albums...they have more of a rock/epic "build-up" style that Explosions has. If you have a chance check out the tracks "Like Herod," "Mogwai Fear Satan," "Folk Death 95," "Glasgow Mega-Snake" and pretty much the most amazing song I've ever heard in my life, "Friend of the Night."

Sigur Ros is only pretentious because some of their lyrics are in a made up language. :) Watch the music video for Glosoli.

I heard these guys are good, but that they don't get along very well with the band Fried Drexler.

Uh...Juwon Howard is going to be there, so you probably shouldn't come. BTW, didn't you know that Juwon Howard likes Oasis and Coldplay?
