Parsons is a good 4th option, and guys like that get paid. He's a smart player, he's a leader, he's tough, he's a glue guy, all things you can't coach. Theres a reason we are trying to get Melo as the 3rd star, and parsons would be that 4th guy to pick up slack when the 3 are struggling. Game 1 Parsons was the reason we went up 13. He's no star, but he is a very good player that deserves a good contract.
Dude relax no one said harden was "the guy" on this team. It's pretty clear he'd be coming off the bench on any real contender. That being said, I do think trade harden for like a Draymond green, tough playing 3/4 and insert lin in the starting lineup I think we become instant contenders and clear a lot of cap space to shore up our bench
When Parsons is his normal self...he is HUGE for this team. Yesterday he sucked. Let's see what happens Friday before we get the guillotine out.
My thoughts are somewhat in line with the OP. I think its going to be easier to acquire a defensive minded SF to mask Harden's refusal to play defense than it is to convince Harden to actually play defense. In order to have a defensive SF we need a productive offensive PF. With that in mind, the sign & trade we should pursue is: Asik Lin Parsons D-Mo for Melo Shumpert That would give you Melo's dynamic offense and decent rebounding at the 4 and Shumpert's defense to cover up Harden's inability at the 3.
