I am with Jeff when it comes to Downtown access parking. It is so much easier to get in and out from Enron parking. And there are plenty of spots for $5 that are as close as the Summit spots.

It's a new age and I think if Les could have worked in more parking he would have, but the downtown space is so limited.

On another note, if anyone wants to split up their season ticket costs I am in the market :D

I don't understand all this B.S. about Downtown being more convenient. The Compaq Center was in a good central location.

This is just a case of better economics (bigger arena) for Les Alexander. Call it that. Don't try to sugar coat it and pretend its better for the fans. Its not.

As someone said earlier, current parking is covered and required minimum distance. New parking will be more expensive and a free for all with no cover.

If you want to say that's a better deal for the fans, then go ahead and lie about it.

Please do not insult us with any marketing facades that pretend its anything other than giving Les and the Rockets more $$. Yes they may not benefit directly from the parking but the arena gives them a lot more $$. Who cares if the fans get the shaft.

I hate to be the one to bear you the bad news but the price break is not gonna be at the new Arena..
Thats a marketing ploy to get more fans to buy season tickets this year so they will have priority seating in the new arena....

After reviewing the emails i recieved and the responses i got from the organization I as not satisfied at what I heard so I did the next best thing....Called Channel 2 news.....:)
"where local news comes first" Figure this is a good time if any to get something going on this with the problems Reliant is having with their parking problems.

This is not a hospital visit where ya pay one time out of 4 or 5 months were talking 44 games here....

Astros have parking for their stadium for season ticket holders who buy a parking pass...
Again I have no problem with buying a parking pass but this theory of them saying your on your own finding a spot does not sit well with me.

THIS is an act of pure greed.

Im sorry but State of the art arena should have also included more than 2500 spaces of parking for Fans if they knew this was gonna be a problem, then they should have picked a better spot.

Someone explain to me what happens to the parking lot spaces when the astros are done for the season?
Is their something that can be worked out?

See I don't get this. I rarely went to Astros games in the dome, but I've been to a number of them at Minute Maid. I don't know about you, but I don't care for Compaq. I don't think anyone is under the illusion that this isn't for the benefit of Les and the Rockets. Anyone who would ignore that is doing it on purpose, but this isn't about "greedy Les Alexander" or how much better the new arena will be. Clearly, this arena will be better in terms of amenities and just overall quality, much like Reliant is over the Astrodome and Minute Maid is over the Astrodome.

But, the fact is that getting in and out of downtown is MUCH easier than just about any other part of town because their are so many ways to get access. The last Astros game I was at, there were 35,000 people there and it took me a grand total of 7 minutes to park and walk to the stadium. It takes me at least that at Compaq. The difference was in leaving. When I left, I was out of downtown and on my way in MAYBE 10 minutes. However, at Greenway, it routinely takes me 20 minutes to a half an hour to get through that traffic.

Riet could have not said it better....he is 100% right.
Call channel 2, 13,11,26 let the organization know this is not gonna fly well...
Their moto is "Be a part of something big" well this is BIG and a BIG mistake on their behalf.
Again spit on the common season ticketholder and lick the tail end of the "club" and luxury seat holders.

Movie: No offense, but knowing the local media, this will be met with a collective "ho hum". I mean, you are pointing out that fans at the new arena will have to pay basically the same amount to park as fans at Minute Maid Park. I don't see the big shock in that.

None taken Jeff but Astros offered a parking pass with season tickets if they wanted it...Rockets are not doing any such thing..
    This has been confirmed...
This is good time to bring it to the attention of the media with the reliant issue....

majority of astros Fans do not attend every game and if they do I bet they have a yellow parking pass...

This might sound like water under the bridge but it's an issue that needs some attention.

Jeff, I am just as excited about the new arena as you, but I was just curious, why do you not like Compaq? There isnt a bad seat in the building, it has the best food court I could really imagine (every type of food), it has alot of history for our Rockets, and the parking is in abundance.
