I'm speechless, but mostly because my voice is hoarse from laughing so hard. I'm very proud of all your hard work
And similarly, I would consider it necessary for one to consider their motivation for that questioning. Do you truly believe it's born out of a desire to dicuss the philosophical implications of fairness, freedoms, and how they interrelate? Objectively, no - the idea is simply to attack on the insinuation that (for example) fairness in this instance implies a socialistic methodology. Ergo - while your argument is theoretically valid, in practice it's simply not true. I'll avoid commenting on the ludicrous irony of a supposedly "christian" pastor making this type of argument.
Some very good points. The philosopher Hannah Arendt made a similar point that "freedom" doesn't mean you can do anything you want. Anyway while this is an interesting topic I fully agree with Batman Jones on his take of the pastor's questions. He is free to go ask any questions he wants but while 'reasonable' is totally subjective I think we can't ignore the context in which he was asking those. He had already established opposition towards the speech prior to seeing the text and when confronted with the actual text seemed to be engaging in a desperate attempt to justify further opposition to what is very widely agreed as innocuous.
Greer Apologizes To Obama For GOP Racism, Recants Critique Of Socialist Indoctrination School Speech Florida's school children are getting a lesson in how the political winds affect the political backbone today. Last year, Jim Greer, then the chair of the Florida Republican Party, was happy to, as he says now, "placate the extremists who dominate" the GOP and publicly accuse President Obama of orchestrating a socialist plot by addressing the nation's public schools via video. Today, he's apologizing for ever saying any such thing, and calling members of his former party racist. Way to be a man Mr Greer!
I bet those same parents that are taking there kids out for that day would let them listen to Glen Beck or I have no clue Palin.
This is happening again in our school system...what a ****ING joke. He is the President of our country...what a bunch of PC garbage...bunch of wussies running our school systems. DD
What a jerk. His apology counts for exactly squat. Whispering "I'm sorry" after shouting an obscenity doesn't excuse your actions, and damn sure doesn't do anything to help repair the damage you caused. It's typical of the Republican Party he is now so quick to demonize: shout the lie, whisper the retraction. I'd love to hear the Prez tell Greer he can take that apology and shove it where the sun don't shine, but of course, Obama's too classy for that. He's not a "man". A "man" wouldn't have caved in to pressure from extremists. A "man" would have paid attention to the racist policies his party has been epsousing for DECADES and done something about it. He's not a "man". He's the very definition of "mouse".
Can't have the kids who are too young to watch Fox actually seeing the president not looking like a Kenyan communist, but a sort of well dressed school teacher. It will dilute the kool-aid.
Is it illegal to bump threads on this board? Because I miss this story. Wherefore art thou Baylor Bear?
