You don't forsake your ideals just because the leadership is leading in an unacceptable way. Real Republicans still believe in the message even if they don't believe in the messengers. I'm a Democrat, not a Republican. If the Democratic leaders ever started acting the Republicans are now, I'd still believe in the core values of the Democratic Party while being sadly disappointed in the individuals who were giving the party a bad name.
I can understand remaining a conservative, but not a Republican. I don't suggest principles should change but parties do. The Democratic party, not so long ago, was opposed to civil rights. I'm a liberal but I wouldn't have been a Democrat under that leadership. And the Republican party has changed in a fundamental way as I described above. Given the fact that the Republican party has made dishonesty a fundament I can't agree it makes sense to stick with them as a matter of principle. I think the opposite is true.
It depends. Around the election, he did 2 or 3 sermons that were political in nature. Most often, he'll just inject a short political comment into his sermon and that might happen once a month. I half expected him to do a sermon on health care reform at some point but he talked about this speech instead yesterday. He likes posts quotes people have made about Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany on his twitter page. Then he asks a question like "sound familiar?"
Seriously?! How bout instead of finding any way to criticize and politicize this speech, he ask the youth of his congregation how they indeed, plan on becoming the future leaders of tomorrow. And I think he very much should say "I expect..." Demand more out of the youth of this country. You wanna reach your goals? Then it's time to be serious about it.
The only politicizing my pastor ever did was trying to show that the forefathers did indeed have God as a central part of what they did. Showing documents and quotes from many famous historical folks. That was a 4th of July sermon and was not so much about the current president but the way the US in general has gone away from God over the past 40 years. Mostly he will just pray for the military and the leaders of the country.
Saw Newt Gringrich on The Today Show say that Obama's message was great and that every kid should hear the speech.
I think from this day forward this will be a double holiday. Labor Day on Monday, and Indoctrination Day on Tuesday. Happy Indoctrination Day everyone!
Obama is little more than a corporate shill and a paid actor. I wouldn't want my kids listening to an established liar.
I'm going to be ready for all the little zombie socialist children running around tonight in the streets.
Better not ever put them in front of a TV set then. Corporate Shill? Good thing you never heard of Bush Sr/Jr in bed with Big Business (i.e. Big Ag and Big Oil)
Wed. officially is "smacks of indoctrine" day...Thu. is to be Bad communication day, or is that Friday?...And Sunday is to be ***hole day to remember the fallen angel of the communist ideals.
Happy Indoctrination Day to All! I have heard the Obama speech to our children and I am now fully committed to striving toward our Marxist Xanadu! ALL HAIL OUR GLORIOUS BENEFACTOR!
1. Don't intend to. 2. Takes huge amounts of campaign contributions from corporations. Am I supposed to believe they donated that money to 'Hope' and 'Change'? 3. Strawman. I'm closer to libertarian/AC so I'm obviously under the opinion that Obama = Bush = Clinton etc. etc. Which means that I believe the most recent presidents have been snake oil salesmen and/or really dumb and unqualified, in either case they are not the ones making the important decisions. So obviously I don't trust them and would not want my young child to be indoctrinated by a very good speaker with dubious agenda.
