History abounds also with leaders inspiring youths as well.

In fact non-youth poisoning occurs far more often than not. Even when Reagan was lecturing children about tax cuts and gun control, not a whole lot of poisoning occcurred.

I can't think of a single western leader currently who is youth mind poisoner. Maybe Silvio Berlusconi.

This is an incredibly shallow and pointless analogy you are making, you are smarter than this.

For the love of God Sam, have you read the totality of my posts in this thread?

I do not believe that Obama's speech should be a concern to parents. I think that anybody who takes their kids out of school for it are nuts.

My post that you reference as my belief on the subject is limited to refuting Batman's belief that it is inconceivable that a nation's leader could poison the minds of the youth. It has happened before and will happen again. That does not mean that I think it is happening here.

I believe that censoring the speech of an American President is a catastrophically bad idea. I have said it over and over in this thread.

I get you. You probably wouldn't be getting this backlash from others if you kept your argument general, instead of specifically invoking Hitler's name as an example.

Yeah...probably a bad idea. I wanted to give an example and he is one that everybody has heard of and is aware of.

    Geez.

I was a student when Bush 41 addressed school children. I didn't have a problem with it then (and don't remember the controversy) and I don't have a problem with it now. The Dems were wrong back then. Can you admit the Republicans are wrong now?

And for all the unfounded fears of Obama injecting his policies into the speech, Ronald Regan actually did just that when he made his address to students.

Now, I object to pushing policy during such a speech, but a speech about having goals and getting good grades is perfectly fine.

Besides the examples of Reagan and Bush 41 Presidents visit schools all the time. There is nothing really unusual about this.

If that was the what the complaints about Obama's speech were that would be different. Those aren't the complaints. The complaints are that he's trying brain wash and use propaganda on the kids.

That's where the crazy a-hole like behavior is coming from. It's because Obama is different, and people are scared of him.

I think this is a stretch. They think he is "socialist" and are overreacting, but I don't think it's because he's black. If Colin Powell was President, you think they would act like this?

Yes, the party pretty much asked him to run, but he said he did not want to be President and to put his family through the campaign.

He was worried about the general election. In 1992 and 1996, it was assumed that he would cakewalk through the primaries.

Rush adored that guy back in the day. Besides, this was all before Rush had the sway that he does today.

Probably not. But I think its easier for people to label him as a dangerous radical and treat him like he's the bogeyman because of his skin color.

So do you think conservatives found it hard to hate Bill Clinton because he was white?
