True, its no where scientific but given that many critics of Obama think this is ridiculous should tell you something. Have you considered that the President has a pretty tight schedule already and that the timing of this has more to do with that the day after Labor Day is generally the start of school nationwide and that Congress is coming back in session that week? This speech will be about working hard in school and taking responsibility about your own education. Yes, that is his agenda but that is hardly controversal. It seems like people such as yourself are projecting your own fears into the speech the topic of which practically every politician would agree with. I'm not sure what you are referring too since the quote you are responding too I didn't mention anything about "commies" or Democractic staffers. I presume you are responding to my comment on your rather radical and bizzare take on Federalism in which case you used those terms. Now you are you stating that only Democractic staffers believe that education is only a local issue? In which case I would say you need to learn more about Democrats. You are expressing an opinion regarding your own interpretation of Federalism in regard to education which I would again say is an extreme and frankly bizzare view that the President delivering a speech to students about hard work is an assualt on Federalism.
LOL at Baylorbear09.....but on a serious note, the only thing I could maaaybe see parents have any conflict over (and that would still have been a reach), has even been settled: Some of the controversy surrounding Obama's speech stems from a proposed lesson plan by the U.S. Education Department to accompany the address. An initial version of the plan recommended that students draft letters to themselves discussing "what they can do to help the president." The letters "would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals," the plan said. Under pressure from conservatives, the White House agreed the plan was not artfully worded and distributed a revised version encouraging students to write letters about how they can "achieve their short-term and long-term education goals." link: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/04/obama.schools/index.html Seems like Obama is making it a lil harder for people to criticize this
Wow...I don't think I've ever seen this much EPIC pwnage of a person on CF. As a black woman, it make me proud to be a ClutchFan, but it almost makes me feel sorry for baylorbear09.... Almost.
Just to play Baylorbear advocate. Are we sure that the white dude in the photo is him/her? Could that be a friend?
Listening to the POTUS is un-American. (Tons of rep given out in this awesome thread BTW, fantastic comedic plot twist thanks to BaylorBear09...unfortunately I cannot re-rep some people yet).
Good for you. I commend you for admitting this. If you want to socialize more with people like yourself, I hear Mazyar knows of a bar . . . You're not black either.
Yes, I am an Indian who lied that I am Indian. Think about that before you make an accusation. Don't compare me to this fool. You don't have to be a jerk and twist it around.
You said you were and you said you weren't. And later you said it was a sociological experiment. I'm not trying to twist anything around or be a jerk. You did some weird **** in that macaca thread.
I was being sarcastic in that thread but everyone took me literally so I decided to run with it. It wasn't a calculated deception. Granted, I went too far with it, but nevertheless, I really don't like being bucketed in with this guy and take offense to it.
I never read it the first time through, but I just went back and took a look at the thread. That was pretty weird.
Guys! Quit being so harsh. I have been reading up on delusions and we should bring baylorbear09 only very gently to the idea that he may not be a black woman. I'm worried now that this thread and all these (normally quite funny) photoshops will be kind of alarming to him. From what I'm reading, a bad enough shock could easily lead him to fall further from reality, believing he is, say, Karl Malone.
