After reading that... yeah, I think your opinion is that your toddler is TOO young according to your wife, and NOT TOO YOUNG according to you. If you really felt like you shouldn't have been asleep while your toddler was around, then it's all on yourself to accept it and just try not to upset Mrs. firecrotch next time.
She's 4? Forget everything I said. By the time my son was 4, he was plotting the downfall of the party in power. (that would be me!)
We nap and let your 6 year old do whatever. We are lucky that he isn't mischeivious. Heck, my 6 year old does the following: Makes his own breakfast Makes his own lunch for school Vacuums the house Cleans his room and playroom everyday (of course, he is super organized). Feeds the pets Takes the dogs out of potty time Pulls weeds My advise to other parents; teach your child about money and how to earn it as quick is possible. My son is all about earning dollars and having responsibilities so he makes our lives real easy when it comes time for him to help out and give mommy and daddy a break.
One thing I hate is Ignorant parents....in 18... I have a friend who ****ing plays MW2 while his one year old jumps off the table to the couch...then gets on to her if she gets hurt.... All while his wife is at work.... I've quit hanging out with this guy....
I know lots of people where I live that leave their child in the house alone while they shovel the driveway in the winter time.
We've been waking up with our 4-year-old son for years and dozing while he watches TV. Granted, he's super low-key and minds us well. So I guess what I'm saying is that it depends on the kid. If you have some devil child who is hell bent on destroying things...probably not a good idea.
I'm getting the sense that many that have responded have done similar things and that it's not that big of a deal. I wish that I could find something in a pediatric book or journal that I could show her. I doubt that she'll read a Clutchfans forum and then agree with me. Oh well.
