Trump is easily swayed with a quick massage of the ego. If people really want to get things done, they would put their pride to the side and just say something nice to this dude. We would probably all have health care and free education if Bernie just said he liked Trump's hair.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone that doesn't think 22 years is sufficient punishment for moving ANY amount of cocaine so long as that's the only thing they were tied to.

Even if you think "doing drugs is wrong" do you really think that a 22 year sentence isn't sufficient for simply moving cocaine? That's a bit over the top don't you think?

What Alice did was horrible and she needed to spend many years in prison. But a life sentence was too harsh. 20-ish years seems sufficient, so I'm ok with the commutation. Kim K deserves props for um..."influencing" Trump to do this. (No, I'm not going to give praise to Trump or Kushner.)

Kushner does deserve credit on this. He's a big advocate for prison/criminal justice reform. Say whatever else you will about him, but on that issue he's an ally to people who think the criminal justice system needs to be fixed.

the Libertardians are the ones screaming "no victim no crime". This question challenges them more than me as my statement was two parts. Taking drugs in itself is wrong which most legalization proponents disagree with.

6600 pounds of cocaine? She wasn't a street dealer, she was a KINGPIN. Tens of Millions of dollars.

This is not a user. This is not a small time dealer.

I can't wait to see who the next celebrity will be in going to the Trump for a pardon. Maybe it will be Paris Hilton appealing to the Trump about overruling the HoF ban on Pete Rose!

Yeah, and she spent over 2 decades in prison for it. You don't think that's sufficient? Now if there's some information out there where you can tie some bodies directly to her actions, that changes things, but I haven't heard anything like that. As far as we know she was just a high volume dealer.

If she had gotten thrown in prison 2 years ago, I wouldn't want her out already, but 22 years? IMO that pays her debt to society so long as it was just slinging cocaine.

Um......They framed this as a "First offense and Non-violent offense". A ****ing kingpin is not non-violent. Someone moving that much weight should get Life in Prison. I am positive there was violence attached to 6600 lbs of coke.

If Obama (who passed over her 3 times) commuted her sentence, you would be cheering this.

Obama commuted the sentence of hundreds of similar offenders and I didn't have a problem with it, the ONLY commutations I had a problem with from Obama is when he decided to set free a terrorist and a traitor.

If you have some kind of evidence of crimes other than transporting and selling drugs and money laundering then that's one thing, but all we have evidence of is that she was part of a high volume mule service for the actual kingpins moving product from Houston to Memphis.

I know you feel like you have to be against this because of who did it, but you're being ridiculous trying to make it sound like she was Scarface.
