Not sure what's upsetting FT. Aide was canned and jailed over a bean incident. Possibly 2 years in the slammer. So what if his facebook buddies wished him well because he's ill. Should he be shunned too? Canning seems right. I love me some canned beans.
Wow. Are we really that screwed up? Maybe I've been in education too long, but we're talking about children around 10 years old. Beans and an eye injury? A thrown bean is assault? What the aide did is assault. K Lolo? break a plastic cup and grind it into your face. See if it doesn't feel wonderful. Like I said. The kid was being a turd, but its not up to a grown man to manhandle the kid. That's why there are disciplinary procedures in place.
He's making it seem like he is not around because he was ill. He was releaed from jail to hospital arrest because of the "stress" of jail. Perhaps someone bigger than him was mashing their "cup of beans" in his face.
What's next. Old men slapping other parent's kids when they are crying...Coaches/parents knocking down kids when a kid lays a late hit? Adults beating up kids at the playground when the kids stick their tongues at them?
I'm with you Falcon. Yes the kid acted terribly but at the sametime you don't grind a piece plastic into a 10 year old's face. As for his Facebook page don't let it get to you and just let the process work its way out. I doubt a Facebook page will make a difference to sentencing.
There's this thing called Home Schooling... I think grades K-8 should all use home schooling, problem solved again...
I've seen home schooled kids. It takes a while for them to adjust to the reality of the school society, and many times have trouble understanding many of the lessons. Different issue all together.
We can only hope! Hope it didn't sound like I was sympathizing with him. Just didn't know what *else* you thought should happen to him besides losing his job (and career) and being sent to jail. I do like the though of someone bigger subjecting him bean justice though.

If some stranger's kid got on my nerves I'd get revenge, but not by jamming razor sharp plastic into the kids face???
Wonder if anyone would have a problem if he took the bowl of beans and just turned it upside down on the kids head without applying any pressure. Kid would sure be embarassed, but not have long term effects other than having to wash his hair.
It would depend on the administrator. If I were in charge, I would start with an apology, two weeks of lunch detention, and one week of missing out on his activity class to come and help clean up the cafeteria. Unfortunately, the admins at that school are very weak and this is why this probably happened. Still does not justify the aide taking discipline into his own hands.
I don't find this disburbing at all. What I find disturbing is that some teachers continue to work with child molestations charges by going to a new school. No criminal charges, because the school doesn't want a record of it in their system. They just mark it down as inappropiate behavior and let the teacher go to the next school.
Falcon, don't forget most of these posters do not have children nor the perspective to understand that this old man deserves everything the legal system is going to inflict upon him. He should obviously never have been in a position that would allow him to assault a child. If it were my child, he would have more to worry about than the legal system.
Definitely gets punished. But dont get me wrong I would want to smash a cup of beans on this para guy too. BTW, whats a paraprofessional?
