If the economy improves over the next 4 years in an appreciable manner, Obama will be a legend... and the legacy of Bush as the worst President since Grant with be solidified.

He's tried for 4 years with terrible results. I hope things improve, but Obama's track record does not suggest that it will.

I think to the radical wing of the GOP that is ruining their (national) party right now, anything that happened from Teddy Roosevelt onward in federal government was a socialist maneuver: income taxes, social security, medicare, etc. So Obama wanting Dodd Frank, the Affordable Care Act, and consumer protection, to name only three, screams "teh sociolizms" to them.

Anything other than military and road paving (if that) is teh sociolizms to some of these folks, and you can read from them right here.

Obviously they do not have healthcare insurance because they are lazy and don't want to work.

    as defined by Wikipedia:
A socialist economic system would consist of a system of production and distribution organized to directly satisfy economic demands and human needs, so that goods and services would be produced directly for use instead of for private profit[5] driven by the accumulation of capital. Accounting would be based on physical quantities, a common physical magnitude, or a direct measure of labour-time in place of financial calculation.[6][7] Distribution of output would be based on the principle of individual contribution.[citation needed]

WRONG! between 2010 and 2012, Congress has had more filibusters since the Clinton Administration. Republicans are on record saying they would TRY and make it impossible for Obama to be reelected, nice try though

He's had a millstone tied around his neck. If I fault him for anything, maybe he should have jumped on the economy sooner rather than focus more intently on the health care issue; but that was how he spent his political capital.

To be fair, it isn't as if he suggested or proposed nothing on the economy. Even before the House shifted red, he was dealing with McConnell and his like (still is): "We gonna make that thar no-count summabitch a one-term President." Hell, on the way to the jobs bill, he asked repubs about it: "Oh, we're voting against it." "Did you even read it?"

His fight is still uphill against many Republicans up for reelection in 2 years whose constituents vote solidly red and don't want to see capitulation to the President on tax cuts, even if the majority of Americans do want to see the rich pay a bit more.

Hopefully the economy will swing around for all our sake's. Hopefully problems in other parts of the world won't act as a sea anchor on us as we attempt to right our ship. Hopefully.

Your response was nothing more than a euphemism for the fact that Obama isn't willing to roll up his sleeves and work across the aisle like successful presidents do.

I don't buy that dichotomy. Obama did exactly as much as he could do for job creation with the stimulus and through executive orders given the opposition from Republicans.

Besides, Health Care Reform is the long-term key to the economy. Keep costs down, projections for Medicare/Medicaid go down and the long term deficit/debt projections come down. There is not runaway spending going on in government, but health care costs were driving the Medicare and Medicaid costs to absurd levels. Curtail the exponential rise we saw in health care costs and you blow a huge hole in the deficits.

Also, when you give more people access to health care, you create an environment where people with good ideas and passions can pursue them instead of being stuck in a dead end job so they can have health care for themselves of a family member. This puts more entrepreneurs in the economy and allows more people to generate more wealth.
