Correction, they are large companies that do not provide any kind of health coverage to their employees. Why should they? They pay 3rd world country wages and the people who work for them are replaceable. Who cares if an employee gets sick and dies? Just hire another grunt the next day.

It's not large companies that will bear the brunt - it's large companies that depend on cheap labor that will bear the brunt. Companies like fast food services, that now has to find ways to take care of 20 year old kids working at their businesses - the cheapest people to insure by the way, or pay more.

I feel nothing for these companies. They are partly responsible for rising costs with the terrible food they serve, and they add little value to our society.

If their Republican CEO's are pissed that Obama won, and their reaction is to take it out on their workers - I say that's their prerogative. And it's their shareholders prerogative to replace them with more level-headed people.

If we vote with our wallets, we will be supporting their employees even less. They not only get their hours cut by the CEO, but the employees will have fewer tips and less hours with no customers. When business slows down enough, they will be on the unemployment and food stamp lines. Let's join the CEO by piling on the worker. LOL

Just because you don't buy a Big Mac and Mickey D's doesn't mean you won't buy food from someplace else that also happens to employ people. Or maybe you think they will just go hungry.

It just means the other restaurant workers will have more tables and tips, while the boycotted restaurant employees get fewer and fewer tips and hours until they are laid off.

That's why we should have national healthcare for all.

I think it would be a better idea to nationalize the pizza industry, and install Herman Cain as the Pizza Czar.

Then they can go work for the competition that has expanded and pays better.

Laying off employees and contracting the business is not a sustainable practice. Capitalism also allows competition to cut into the market. These companies only make themselves more vulnerable. Somebody'll step up to cut into their businesses and do it without profiting off their employees as badly.

They can then work for the other restaurant which will be hiring more because of increased business.

Start up your boycot of Pizza Hut too. I can guarantee you the franchise owners are going to switch to part timers to reduce health care costs. Yum Brands is just smart enough to not publicize what they are doing.

I'm impressed by the extensive knowledge of business operations in pizza delivery we have in this forum.

They tell us making it more expensive to hire employees will not result in fewer employees hired. Who knew?

Many companies are replacing full time employees with part time to avoid the employer mandate for companies that have over 50 full timers. IRS is anticipating this and lowering the definition of full time from 40 hours to 30.

Get ready for lots of hiring for 29 hour/wk jobs. That's one way to lower unemployment I guess, more people working fewer hours.

They will. Some will raise prices, some will cut jobs, some will switch to more part-time labor.

The ones that wouldn't, are the ones that were already offering coverage and will see no change under ObamaCare.

The same supposition is made on a larger scale year after year by republicans and trickle down economics. Give the rich more money and they will give more money back to the poor in terms of jobs. What if they don't? If you can avoid that question so can we...
