Looks like we need to start this up again as we're on the way to 2-7. Doom. Gloom. Abreu sucks. Fire Espada. PUSH THE BUTTON.
Points where panic would be warranted: >20 games under .500 after 30 games (5-25 or worse) >15 games under .500 after 40 games (12-28 or worse) >10 games under .500 after 80 games (35-45 or worse) >5 games out of the playoffs after 100 games
There seems to be no leader, no fight and clearly something is missing - I’d love to be behind the scenes for more info.
This is my deal I wasn’t an Espada guy Didn’t dislike him Just wanted an outside voice I’m starting to worry that we have lost any edge that we have had It’s still way too early baseball wise But it don’t feel the same
It doesn’t feel the same because they’re losing. If this were a ten game stretch in June it wouldn’t be such a big deal.
There is absolutely nothing I’ve seen that would cause me to panic about this team 9 games in. Stop being silly.
I've got it at 8-19 he's done. Crane will not wait it out with over a quarter billion dollars in payroll. You think he'd survive 5-18, 5-19 all the way they thru 5-24? No way, no how. And actually you're just saying when panic would ensue and not necessarily his firing.
if Crane were to fire Espada, do they promote from within or find some manager savant sitting on his couch to save the day - and if it’s the latter, who would be your candidate ?
Yes. The bullpen will be really good at the back end. the offense is very talented. starting pitching looks like it’s going to hold together and you’d have more reason for optimism than pessimism with most of the starters, though all have some question marks obviously.
If 4/5's of the current rotation continue at their current pace... and they have 4 more guys waiting to come back from injury expected to all pitch this year... they're going to be fine regardless of their all-world lineup (that will eventually hit well) and their all-world bullpen (that will eventually pitch well). But thus far, Blanco and France are answering most of the questions that most experts had about this team going into the season.
I think as fans, we're allowed to be a little concerned about this start without everyone yelling at us that it's a long season, etc. Don't get me wrong, I know it's a long season and I'm not ready to fire the manager just yet (LOL...) The thing that I AM concerned about is our ability to win at home. Losing record at home last year during the regular season and most notably the playoffs. And we seem to be picking up right where we left off. We can't win 95 games if we have a losing home record. It's frustrating because it's so inexplicable.
probably because they inexplicably kept the roof shut during the best stretch of late March/early April weather home-stands we've had for some time now. Even dumb-**** metroplex knows when to open the roof... and they were dumb enough to build an open roof stadium there in the 90's along with having an unfinished hole in the roof stadium for decades (Texas stadium orginially designed to have a retractable roof... just didn't have the $$$ or technology to build one, lol).
This team is very good. A rough patch just happened to coincide with the beginning of the season. If we aren't at .500 50 games in, I will be very surprised.
