i'm confused how could we trade CUTTINO if he is a free agent and you can't do sign and trades yet can you since it's too early to sign?

i'm guessing the trade wouldn't be finalized until we sign cuttino so we would draft whoever the clippers want at 9 and they would draft miles at 3 for us and then once we resign cuttino we send him and whoever we pick at 9 over to the clippers for miles.

    Dear Clutchcity.net posters,
There is no way in hell Shandon, Steve, or Cuttino will be traded.

wow, do you guys really think cuttino and shandon are THAT good?

    Hypothetical Question:

If Toronto offered to sign and trade tracy mcgrady for #9 and mobley. would you take that deal?

In my opinion this would a no brainer, i would do that in a heartbeat if i were the rockets, but i'm just curious if you guys would keep mobley even if we could get a talent like mcgrady for him.

SooneRockStro is correct. The Rockets cannot trade Cuttino because he is a free agent. They have no rights to him. The only way he could go to Toronto is if he wants to go there and specifically asks the Rockets to sign and trade him. Secondly, Cuttino is instrumental to the future of Francis. Although Francis likes it here in Houston, I don't think he is married to this city. He may threaten to leave if the situation suddenly takes a turn.

As far as trading Shandon, that will not happen unless he requests a trade from Houston. He took a big paycut to sign here. If we trade him now, he will be extremely upset, and it will significantly lower the chance of other free agents signing in Houston in the future. I guess we did do it to Antoine Carr, but he was much less of a big name free agent than Shandon.

BTW, is Steve Francis's birthname Steven, Stephen, or just Steve?

You'd have to be crazy to deal Anderson and the #9 just to move up to #3 to get Miles. Miles will be a project for a few seasons, Anderson is already playing at a pretty high level. I don't like the deal because that forces us to start Cuttino at the 2, meaning less shots for Steve and a weaker bench.

By the way, wasn't Charlie asking Micheal Murphy if he would do the deal instead of Rich?

Ok, NIKEstad pointed it out earlier, but it's worth repeating:

Why would the Clippers/Mobley agree to that deal? Mobley is a free agent. Only way we can trade him is if he agrees to go to LAC. Even if, for some reason, he did decide he wanted to play for the Clips, why would he agree to a sign and trade. If he wants to play with Odom/Clips, then he simply signs there as a free agent (the Clips have lots of cap room) and allows the Clips to keep the #3 pick. What benefit is it to Mobley or the LAC to acquire Mobley in a sign and trade and have to give up #3 overall? That deal make no sense at all.

as i said before in order for the rockets to get the #3 pick they would need to give up either cato, anderson, or mobley and i just said i would prefer giving up mobley out of the 3. i'm not saying this deal will or has even a chance of happening, all i'm saying is if they wanted mobley and #9 for their #3 i would do it in a heartbeat. i have no explanation on why the cuttino would do a sign and trade if he could just sign with the clippers, my guess would be maybe he might be able to get more money that way or maybe he didn't want the fans of houston to feel like he sold out on us, i don't know.

More money from the Rocket versus signing as a FA with the Clips who are under the cap?
