McCain DID lie about his affair with Cindy.

He lied about it in his book and he lied about it in interviews.

He said he'd been separated from his wife before he started seeing Cindy, because he knew it would make him look like less of a heel.

In fact, divorce papers show he was living with his ex-wife Carol during the entire affair.

When asked to reconcile the discrepancy, he just says it was a long time ago and he takes responsibility for the failure of the marriage.

    But make no mistake.

JOHN MCCAIN DID LIE ABOUT CHEATING ON HIS DISABLED WIFE AND HE DID SO TO MAKE HIMSELF LOOK BETTER.

But McCain is a POW, which gives him the privelege, no...the duty to cheat on his first wife.

I like how this was never mentioned in his RNC biography video.

At a Navy dinner, John was smitten by a young lady named Cindy Lou. He was 42. She was 24. He told her he was 37. She told him she was 27. And so John made Arizona his new home...

    HAHAHA

I was not talking about McCain, I was talking about Palin and Edwards.

I have never pretended to like McCain, frankly I can't stand him. However, we are left, in my own opinion anyway, of having to choose between the slightly lesser of two evils. Either way, the next 4 years are going to be TEH SUK.

    Corrected for significant detail...

Clinton's affairs were serial going back to days as governor of Arkansas and involved abuses of power.

This is a really pessimistic view.

We'll be out from under the GWB disaster very soon, and regardless of your personal view of either candidate, that is a very very very good thing.

And, that said, my personal view is that both parties' candidates are probably the best that could have been hoped for. One could be as concerned about McCain's history of cheating on his wife and more recently not knowing which McCain (the Maverick, the one pandering to the right wing conservative base) as the opposing side could be concerned about Obama's lack of experience.

But, their faults aside, I think we have 2 fairly good candidates here.

    I don't know the details.

However, you are comparing apples to oranges a bit, I think, in that on the one hand we are talking about someone just coming out and lying about something in their personal life in order to try to deceive people into continuing to believe he has a shred of common decency and integrity, and on the other, you are talking about politics, in which arena, I suspect you would be hard-pressed to find a politician who has not contradicted himself/herself on numerous occasions, both supporting and opposing the same thing at various times.

Like I said, I don't know the details about the politics thing in Alaska, but if you are trying to draw some kind of equivalency between Dollar Bill looking us straight in the eye and categorically stating 'I never had sex with that woman!', and someone saying 'I told the Federal Government 'Thanks but no thanks!' to that Bridge to No-Where!' when in fact at some point she might also have supported it, then that is pretty thin.

Of course, maybe she really was the driving force behind trying to get that bridge built there, and everyone else in Alaska had to stop it over her objections.. which of course would make her the bald-faced liar you are implying. Is there a link to an objective breakdown of the facts in the case, ma'am?

You can't forgive McCain for an infidelity 30 years ago, but you can forgive Teddy Kennedy for a manslaughter 40 years ago. Both lied, but which was the bigger lie? You can forgive Obama's association with a former terrorist but you immediately excoriate Palin on the basis of a rumor. I'm ... saddened.

    And more lies about Obama...nice.

The state employee served "at the pleasure of" Governor Palin-- as did Monica Lewinski for Bill Clinton and, could have, Paula Jones.

Bullying? Really? Great choice of words. :D

That's about as ridiculuously disenginuous as saying McCain had an association with former members of the North Vietnamese Army.

Could we please stop repeating this idiocy?

ISn't it a little much to be giddy about this? Once you're in the spotlight, things get fuzzy, but really, we're talking about stuff the Enquirer reported? Seriously?

Not to condone Clinton's behavior but do you think things would've been better for Clinton if he hadn't lied?

Considering there were legal implications for him for admitting to such an affair also is my guess is he would've been impeached whether or not he told the truth when the allegations first surfaced.

This thread reminds me of that old saying, "If you're going to wrestle with pigs expect to get dirty."

Obama doesn't need to be forgiven for anything to do with Ayers. They had no significant relationship. Serving on a board, and Ayers supporting him as a politician isn't really significant.

That being said, I won't even dignify this rumor with a comment unless it's substantiated.

I think the worst thing about it is that it makes me feel sorry for people who supported her as some kind of values champion if it were true. Other than that, I'm not that concerned with her married life.

    Gee...

Oh well, it was good for one news cycle anyway..

wonder if any of the media outlets will get this far with this..

Oh, it wasn't true after all?

The important part is the smear, I guess, rather than any kind of misguided dedication to the truth..

Hilarious that this comes from the side who constantly complains about untruths and smear attacks..

    Oh well
