i probably should have said lack of vision. i think she is just playing the same old republican game of divide and conquer. she has an agenda perhaps, but not vision. obama is not a populist or at least is not governing as one because it is not a practical time to do so. unless something extraordinary happens in the next few years, palin has no chance vs. obama.
I love the fact that anyone thinks they can predict which GOP would split with Palin if she does form this tangent and which would not, and what would comprise either group. We all know that they would talk about issues and principles and all that up front, then when they saw which group held the conservative cards of support, they would gravitate towards that one and re-sour the group. They have pandered to this base, lost with it, and I doubt very seriously they will allow her to take any of their constituents away, whether they truly represent them or not. Maybe some people see such a thing making them stronger, and maybe in the long run it could be, but I doubt those holding the reins will allow any massive schism of this sort without squashing it, even if it means being a detriment to their own party further still. The uberGOPS are not going to allow her to divide the votes. eos. My guess is, the minute she breaks rank, she will be politically chastised by the "real" GOP, until she either goes away, or proves resilient and supported enough to stand the test, at which point they'd come to some terms and remerge, leaving those opposed to the NewGOP treading water on their own in isolation and artificial disdain. If this is going to happen, someone else needs to start the movement, and those who want to break ranks with the GOP will need to join with others. Starting it on their own will anger their "former" partners in silliness too much for such a thing to succeed. Maybe, maybe no.
