He's incredibly clean. Cleaner than GWB, John McCain, Bill Clinton prior to taking office. The closest thing to anything resembling impropriety is Rezko and him getting a better deal on a parcel of land (though even that's questionable - there's no market value for the way the deal went down). But if there was it probably doesn't even match Governer Reform's per diems or forged travel expenses.

Here's the thing- if we are taking the Republicans to task for focusing on issues that are irrelevant to the issues that really matter to most Americans, then this is really more of a non-issue. As much as I am against much of what she stands for, I do applaud her for wanting her daughters to be with her on these trips. Nothing wrong with that at all.

However, even though she's done what a lot of others have done, it may not technically be right, depending on if this is similar to the IRS rules regarding deductions from things like conventions. I went to a convention in San Antonio in 2000 and took my wife (at the time my fiancee) with me. On my taxes for 12/2000, I only claimed 1/2 of my hotel bill as an expense, and only those items on the restaurant bills that pertained to me (and only 1/2 of that, actually). I had only been in business for 1 year, and I remember that the tax laws were very strict regarding deductions. Could I have taken the entire hotel bill? Probably. But according to the IRS code at the time, I could only take off that portion that pertained to me. So, to be on the safe side, I deducted my stuff.

I mean, it doesn't cost anymore to have the kids in the hotel, so I don't see why this is even an issue. Very petty if the Democrats jump on this- they have way more important things on which to focus.
