I honestly can't think of any act so transparently hypocritical as Palin's "r****d" double standard. What a fraud.
Some quick searching on the forums with Threads titled "Palin". Top Thread Creaters Basso - 18 Carl Herrera - 16 DaDakota - 9 Sam Fisher - 5 85 out of the 153 threads are created by well known liberals. 31 out of the 153 threads are created by well known conservatives. The remainder 37 are created by infrequent D&D posters, but judging from many of their remarks, they were not very palin friendly. So why is she getting so much attention?
I'm gonna go with "because she is a media hog and attention w**** who shills products at a rate to shame Billy Mays." When you are a TV star you can't claim you want anonymity.
You fail. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/R5vOMIN673A&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/R5vOMIN673A&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Where are the teleprompters, hmmm?
I really don't get this teleprompter criticism. Does it somehow imply that Obama is not intelligent? The man was only editor of the Harvard Law Review and taught at the University of Chicago prior to entering politics. Sarah Palin went to three small universities before getting a bachelor's in journalism. It's just so frustrating how a certain portion of the electorate not only wallow in their ignorance, but revel in it. Maybe that's why I don't post in this forum so much anymore.
You are correct it's a stupid thing to make fun of. Every president since they've been around uses them. Every news person uses them, almost everyone who's public speaking uses one these days. But even if somehow it meant Obama was flawed because he does use the teleprompter he's show on numerous occasions that he does quite well without one. Most recently he proved that he does better without one than Republicans did with prepared remarks. The fact that basso keeps trying to pretend like it didn't happen testifies to his willful ignorance and is funny to watch. Please keep the teleprompter jokes coming basso.
You make an excellent point, but what is the most galling is the fact that the President, invited by Congressional Republicans to their own retreat, spent well over an hour making them look like idiots without a teleprompter. I watched the entire thing live and it is disgustingly dishonest for Republicans to spew this "teleprompter" crap while trying as hard as they can to ignore a masterful performance by Mr. Obama, sans teleprompter, just a few days ago. Dishonesty writ large! Now, now... we should be more polite. She's merely a freakin' idiot.
The derangement comes when people try to pretend like she isn't an idiot or competent. Also you seem to misunderstand the left's fascination with her. It isn't that they think she's relevant or irrelevant. It boils down to this. She is grossly incompetent. She isn't fit to lead, and knows very little of what she talks about most of the time. She's blatantly dishonest, uninformed, and ignorant. Yet a significant part of people who lean right seem to follow her, and she has no idea how unqualified she is. Therefor it is a lot of fun to watch her make a fool of herself and laugh at her. We hope she sticks around, because it's hilarious to watch a real life Inspector Clouseau at work. The only derangement comes from folks on the right who somehow think the left hates her, fears her, or that she's qualified to lead or even has the foggiest notion what she's talking about. Her ideas and rhetoric are so non-sensical that she doesn't warrant anyone's hate. It's just fun that she puts herself out in public, and she's so clueless. So it's fun to have laugh.
Exactly. That's what a hater would do. Bringing up Obama in this conversation is ridiculous. One went to prestigious universities and one is a mumbling idiot. At least dubya went to a good school and graduated with a gpa of 2.0
Mr. Obama received an excellent education. His university credentials are impeccable. But there is a difference between book learning and common sense, or better yet, wisdom. He has the book learning, but is lacking in common sense, and appears to be devoid of any true wisdom. For proof, just look at his first year in office. Those on the left appear to be very disappointed by his lack of progress and commitment to achieving his campaign pledges. Those who opposed him on the right regard him as just what we thought he would be - an empty suit. And aside from the Q&A event with Congressional Republicans, he continues to be dependent on the teleprompter to a degree that is not only unprecedented, it is really pretty astonishing. He presented himself as some sort of messianic figure on the campaign trail. So far, he has been anything but. Normally, someone would put heavy emphasis on their university education for their first one or two jobs, and then that person's record accomplishments is what would recommend them for advancement to positions of higher responsibility and executive level roles. As we can see by the constant emphasis on Obama's education, he really does not have any appreciable accomplishments to recommend him to his current role, aside for running for office, and writing his memoirs (twice). Just his empty campaign rhetoric and his teleprompter-driven messianic orations during the last election cycle. And you guys actually believed all of that. What a bunch of suckers. Obama parses his words like a lawyer. But in answer to a given question, he offers substantially different answers to different audiences, depending on the preferences of that audience. The beauty of the Q&A with Republicans is that he had to address a cross-section of different audiences, all at the same time. Obama was very brave to stand up in front of the Congressional Republicans without a teleprompter the way he did. I will give him credit for that. But his duplicity was on display for all to see during that exchange, even though a large group of Kool-Aid drinkers on the left somehow seem not to have noticed. I would like to see those meetings happen 3-4 times a year so that we can continue to see him be himself, without the filter of the teleprompter, more often. The meeting with Republicans was just one single time that he did that. Are you aware that President Obama has not held a press conference since July? Working without a teleprompter is not Obama's regular habit by any means. In fact, the MSM community was so amazed by the historic nature of the Q&A session with Republicans that they really did not spend a lot of time on fact checking the President's answers to the Republican's questions. Going forward, that type of scrutiny can only be expected to increase. Obama off-the-cuff in that kind of setting is a never ending fountain of prevarications and equivocations. In fact, I suspect that Obama's handlers may not be in any kind of a hurry to allow for an exchange like that one again any time soon. I know you guys were fired up by seeing Mr. Spock show a little emotion for once. But going forward, these meetings are going to be more about the answers to the questions. You just watch and see.
oh here we go, he doesn't have common sense. people thought GWB had common sense, that worked really well. anyway, does sarah have an policy ideas?
As we have seen recently in the election in Massachusetts, the people do not want the Democrats leftist health care agenda to be passed. And it is not going to be. This proposed event is just a politically-driven stunt by Barack Obama. The Republicans have already been presenting their ideas in Congress, but due to the large Democratic majorities, they are not given serious consideration. Congress is the right venue for this. Anything that actually happens for real will happen in Congress. If the Democrats are serious about working with Republicans on health care, let them do it in Congress, where the results matter. As an aside, I thought Obama was now going to focus on the economy like a laser beam. Apparently not.
