Let me clarify before you go deep on this tangent...It's "enemy territory" in the sense that this interview style forum is what liberals wanted in anticipation of pouncing on any perceived weakness...that is what I meant by "enemy territory"...She did extremely well, but the left's focus is going to be to dissect as expected, make something out of nothing, bypass the word: "perhaps", focus on the word: "war",....It's all expected silliness... she did very well...
Congrats to Palin. That interview made Michael Dukakis on Nightline in '88 look as comfortable and prepared as Bill Clinton in a townhall forum.
Yep. That awkwardness you were feeling... was your own fear that she's got what it takes to send a signal to the world that this VP won't simply be a lock-step party yes man stool pigeon to the POTUS. FEAR the PALIN!
Wow. While I don't think the interview was the worst ever, I can't believe how much ROXRAN is supporting it so hard. I guess that's party politics. If McCain or Obama said they wanted to take 50% of all citizens' pay would their party be all for it? That would be interesting. Sheep. I was surprised to see she just got her passport recently. That is pretty surprising given that she is going up for VP. I have more foreign experience than her. Republicans made the choice for the campaign, not the job. That said, this interview did sort of remind me of the scene in Billy Madison when Billy tells the story of the puppy who lost its way to answer a question.
Charlie Gibson was pretty soft on Palin if you compare this to the O'Reily interview. First of all, on the issue of Georgia and Ukraine - there's no way we will put to them being admitted to NATO. That is just dumb. It's all talk - and that's fine. Now, in terms of the interview. She gets a D-. Maybe an F. She clearly was coached, and did the best she could to not be stumped. She gets credit for that. But she didn't really answer a single question. She couldn't speak in an extemporaneous manner. She answered questions with sound bites, often repeating the same answer when Charlie kept asking for a real answer. She dodged and spun - she was more nuianced than Obama and yet she actually said absolutely nothing with content. She spoke in platitudes and what any 18 year old civics student could answer. It was all fluff. She could only say, "yes, it's an option" "we have to stop them" "we have to be tough" - but she couldn't discuss the issues, she couldn't provide insights. She couldn't speak about foreign policy beyond war and energy. Her answers were terrible, and honestly, she just came across as unaware and definitely in no way ready to be president. This interview - if it's actually watched by people - should definitely lower her standing and be quite shocking. If it doesn't - then I think Americans are truly lost as a people.
Not to the same extent...remember this was Palin's first interview since being the Republican V.P. nominee...That is the distinction...The liberals are crying and whining and all on the floor to find something that..can ..POSSIBLY ..stick to the damn wall!!!!....troopergate? ...allegation from a biased source...No verifiable evidence or facts...let's see, I already struck down DaDakota on the lies about the plane, check that one off...hmm..What else? Attack the kids or babies?...Yeah...That worked out for you guys...attack her for stating she would respond to those **perhaps** attacking a NATO Georgia... C'mon, you even state Obama would open up to Georgia...this is silly and transparent....
A different set of eyes and ears would feel for her and relate to her. Oh, she mentioned God. Way to stick it to the Washington elite. Your son is brave. You're tough too by smacking Russia on the nose. Support the troops +infinity! With poll numbers the way they are, I'll believe the claims of a reasoned electorate when I see it.
Perception is reality...You can put lipstick on a liberal opinion,...It's still..liberal opinion...Imagine that! The reality is what she has done and will continue to do!...I like her track record.... FEAR the PALIN!!!!!
ask her tough questions about women's rights!!!! That will be the day when the tides turn against her...the more she reveals herself, the more trouble for McCain...
As a moderate - although I am beginning to wonder if there are truly any moderates left - I don't fear McCain. I can say that much, if he were to win, I know he'd work with dems and wouldn't be a bush. BUt if he dies - Palin would be worse than Bush. Now you are right about perception. We here can look at that interview - and can tell that it was really terrible. I mean, awful. But I have lost faith in the electorate....in people to use rationale cognitive abilities and are instead operating from their emotions. But Palin is an empty shell - her answers had no substance. And it's wise for Obama and co not to attack her anymore - Hillary is very sage in this. Palin can't do a tough interview, she can't answer tough questions, and she's going to crash an burn if the debates ask her tough questions where she has to give a real answer. I hope Biden was watching. In anycase, who knows how people will react. Palin was clearly out of her element. But who knows if folks will sympathize and relate to her, and if they feel that's what really counts - not statesmanship and knowledge of foreign affairs. We'll see. Perhaps most people won't be watching. But she gets an F here - as much as she got an A at the convention - this one is a clear F. Know we know why McCain's campaign was shy to show her - and that fact, that they did that - will now doubly backfire because we can all see why. It is afterall god's mission to make the electorate see the light and prevent the diaster of letting this woman be the leader of the free world. It's not the decisions she'd make that scare me, it's the lack of understanding and awareness she has - the ease at which she will be manipulated.
The weird thing is, i feel sorry for her. I mean, she's just out of her league. McCain should not have picked, it was a cruel thing to do.
