remember, this is also from the influence of mccain's aides. i think mccain feels the same way. we might see more wars if this ticket comes into office
More from the interview... The fact that she didn't hesitate sends off all kinds of bells with me. Even if you know you want the job, when you're going to do something that challenging you sit down for a few minutes and go over it in your head... maybe tell your family... maybe pray about it. I suspect that is how she'll make decisions... without reflection and without understanding or caring about the ramifications.
7 1/2 more weeks of scrutiny until election day. This is just the beginning. I think it's hilarious that she and McCain are sticking together on the campaign trail. Nobody wants to see him without her and McCain's handlers probably don't trust Palin by herself. But I don't think they can sequester her that long.
analysts are now saying this was NOT what she was saying at all before she was the nominee. she was like obama saying the president needs a timeline to pull troops out. now she's saying she'll pursue war?? the ONLY person not wanting a timeline is mccain. so mccain and his people have definitely changed her way of thinking.

I'm no fan, but this one sentence is a bit overblown. I wouldn't expect her to differ from McCain on Georgia. So her statement mirrors McCain wanting to reach out to Georgia for NATO. She just replied that members of NATO do indeed pledge to fight for one another. The more telling thing for me is "perhaps so," as if she's thinking, "I really need to learn more about NATO, stat!"
Nobody should be that haphazard when questioned about war with Russia. No candidate from either party would have been so superficial during the Cold War about the Soviet Union. (Ronnie's "bomb now" moment was not during a serious interview.)
Oh, I agree. I find her positions horrifying. It's just that they are not surprising, given that McCain has said basically the same thing.
To refute her position, you have to refute the admittance of Georgia to NATO first. What good is NATO for if at least not talk tough when a supposed member country gets invaded?
I am not sure I would admit Georgia into Nato....what purpose would that serve? For instance what if Russia signed a similar agreement with Cuba? Why bother? Why not work together and use diplomacy? DD
but I agree, she's no diplomat. She should have said something along the line of "we should take some action to prevent the that, the use of military would not be ruled out if blatantly challenged." or something along the line, given her position.
Except so far all she's learned is: Georgia/Ukraine in NATO good -- Nato sticks together -- Somebody attacks Nato --> US fights back. And be confident...don't blink. (and use the blink line). She also would have stressed the role of NATO action as different from US action had she read the full book on NATO rather then only the chapter summaries. There just hasn't been time. She's not ready.
And this is just a Baba WaWa interview. Imagine tough questions. You know? One's where she actually has to think about the answer. This is the best and brightest of the republican party?
What answer would satisfy you all? That we will never go to war with anyone regardless of any reason?
