Obama's speech alone had more than 20 specific policy points in it.

Basso and TJ, You bashed Obama when he gave 29 different policy positions in his speech, why don't you come explain your reasons why she had no substance.

I told you that republicans are not only evil, but there evil hypocrites :D

I'm convinced that the right don't really care about this country they just want to win elections....I lost all faith in that side after they picked this pailn lady and all of them are drinking the kool aide.

They ignore Obama career in the Illinois senate and just skip right to community organizer, but that forget republican Abraham Lincoln had about the same experience and came from the Illinois senate also.

The Republican party of the Lincoln is not the Republican party of today other than in name.

Nixon ,Ford ,Regan ,Bush.1 ,and Bush.2

Have anyone of them done anything about abortion, immigration, and gay marriage?

If that's what you are voting on then you are wasting your vote.

Very true, republicans have become the closed minded Dixiecrats who controlled the south.

She impressed. Last night was her night to show how impressive she is and to somehow insure Americans that in case something was to happen to McCain she would make a good Commander in Chief.

One out of two ain't bad.

Special needs angle was very compelling, and I think the whole "Some people use change to advance their careers- Some people use their careers to advance change" was probably the best line of both conventions.

I think the Republicans have reason to be proud today. Congratulations.

Except that Palin voted to CUT funding for Special needs in her state of Alaska by 60%. So is she going to go change her mind once she get's to Washington? But she delivered a good speech. I didn't expect any specifics tho. That is supposed to come from McCain.

Aren't you a liberal democrat? I love hearing ardent democrats or solid republicans telling me how independents feel about something.

Hey, I am an independent, and I thought her speech was pure fluff......it was delivered well but didn't say one thing about anything of relevence.

hopefully the media will build on how extremely tough and vicious she is, so joe biden can be himself in the debate without holding back.

b/c i don't want sexism to be in the debate since the republicans are complaining about it.

He CLEARLY posted articles not written by him, not expressing his own opinions, but from independent websites about undecided voter's impressions of the speech. Are you being sarcastic or was this one of the dumbest posts (outside of TJ and basso) that I've seen here?

I'm not defending her speech at all. I've criticized parts of it as well, namely that she didn't give any sort of policy specifics.

It just cracks me up to hear people are staunchly in favor of one party's candidate state how independents feel about a speech.

For some reason the links didn't show in his post that I originally read. I'll read them now.

I take back what I said if they are pertinent links.

I am interested in McCain's speech....because at the end of the day HE is the one running.

I think Palin is a nice speaker....McCain......seems uncomfortable at it...

What is an independent? I am not registered Democrat or Republican, does that not make me an independent?

Probably technically, but I think of an independent more in the spirit of the word. If you are someone who is actually willing to consider either party then I'd say you are an independent.

Edit: I just read your links Mc Mark. I apologize. I didn't see them in your original post, I thought you were just giving your opinion. Again, I apologize.

Since 1980 I have been an independent. I registered for the Democratic Party for this election in February.

As an independent, the populist tone and content of the speech appealed to me. She certainly connected with the Republican base. Considering that the teleprompter went down, she did an excellent job, very poised. The attempt to demonize her will backfire. The Dems better focus on McCain or they are going to lose ground. If Hillary doesn't come out and defend Obama against Palin's barbs, and do it quickly, it will raise questions about her "real" loyalities.
