The article doesn't say this is going to happen. It says that she is Highlighting stories of people who have overcome adversity. I read that as Sara Palin intro's a feature on somone, it talks about the person & shows clips from an interview.

This is very very common in TV. Somebody (off camera) interviews a person in a chair & its later cut into a feature on that person. Sometimes the interviews are shot for the purpose of that particular feature, sometimes they are used for some other story down the road.

You people are assuming its going to cut her into the interviewers place, but nowhere does it say thats going to happen.

fair point, however someone used the supposed chit chat between LL and Sarah as evidence of how she isn't racist.

a conservative jumped the gun on the claim

I guess we'll see the format once the show airs. Unfortunately, I won't be home to see it on Thursday.

and that brand is pretty strong- look at the "competition."

[rquoter]CNN continued what has become a precipitous decline in ratings for its prime-time programs in the first quarter of 2010, with its main hosts losing almost half their viewers in a year.

The trend in news ratings for the first three months of this year is all up for one network, the Fox News Channel, which enjoyed its best quarter ever in ratings, and down for both MSNBC and CNN.

CNN had a slightly worse quarter in the fourth quarter of 2009, but the last three months have included compelling news events, like the earthquake in Haiti and the battle over health care, and CNN, which emphasizes its hard news coverage, was apparently unable to benefit.[/rquoter]

yup, you are absolutely correct. But then posters on the board made it sound like FN was going to use cut Palin into an old interview - which would be horribly misleading and just flat wrong.

As a TV producer, I read it completely different. I took it as they were going to use the interview in a feature, and Palin would is simply hosting the segment.

CNN got in a lot of trouble recently for their use of old footage in editing, & I supported them on it as well. As long as the footage isn't misleading on an issue, but only adds to the visuals, I'm completely okay with it. It is very common & is why footage archives exist. However, in our age of nitpicking anybody we don't agree with (both sides of the political spectrum are guilty), people tend to find fault in things buy "jumping the gun" as you put it.

I would support Sean Penn on this if it happened to him too.

Mmm hmm- those 50+ are coveted by advertisers.

    MUST. SELL. MORE. MAGICJACKS!

Let's face it, when you're too uncool for fossil rapper LL Cool J, well....I don't even think a self-proclaimed hiphop king like Michael Steele could fix that, not with all the bondage clubs in the world.

Palin has used the term "real Americns" before. By this she means her basically all white rural/ small town audiences that she appeals to.

They routinely issue snotty little statements, particularly when someone gets the best of them...

In response to criticisms by Ted Turner...

    Toby Keith seems upset too.

[rquoter]Keith, who says he's a registered Democrat, was not told about the usage of a past interview for Palin's program. "We were never contacted by Fox," his rep tells Hitfix."I have no idea what interview it's taken from. They're promoting this like it's a brand new interview. He never sat down with Sarah Palin."[/rquoter]

    http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/2008-12...naware-of-his-inclusion-in-sarah-palin-s-show

I'm actually surprised to hear that Toby Keith is a Democrat. I had no idea. I would've pegged him as a Republican.

So what is Palin's role in this show anyway? If all the interviews are old, what is she actually doing? Segues? Voice overs?

EVERY single time Keith is mentioned in the media in relation to some conservative story, they always lead with "and is a registered Democrat".... they've been doing it since the Dixie Chicks thing blew up... and it's so dumb, because he's about as liberal as I am a Jazz fan.

    from Josh --

    Marvels of Programming

It looks like Fox has created the perfect interview show vehicle for Sarah Palin. An interview show based around her interviews with people she's never interviewed.

Keith was part of the Colbert Christmas special. I don't know what that means, if anything, but he was good in it.

This whole thing reeks of Dana Carvey's church lady.
