Why didn't she just say the wall street journal, new york times, Washington post, heck any local or state magazine or newspaper.
COURIC: Gov. Palin, how do you spell your name? PALIN: Oh, you know... pretty much the way you would. It's a very common name, you know, not -- I mean a lot of people have heard one like it. I spell it the same way I always, the way my mother taught me, just like you and everybody else. There's this, you know, crazy perception that we, Alaska, you know we spell just like everyone does. It's not this strange foreign country unlike Washington. But, you know, like, I, you know, I get it--this gotcha journalism we all have to deal with these days. Plus, you know I can see that Russian guy in the morning from where I live. Nkay?
The push back has come from conservatives like David Brooks who want her off the ticket. I know you drink the Kool-Aid and everything, but she's a disaster and McCain is going to lose because of her selection.
So are these Couric interviews still going on, or were they all recorded over a couple of days sometime in the past and they are just slowly releasing them? I can't imagine why Palin would continue these interviews when she keeps making such a fool of herself and WMD'ing their ticket.
Yup, some diehards are forgetting why McCain picked her in the first place. Hangover's a b****. Some B12 might soothe that raging 35 day headache.
Trust me, that is an accent that no one in North Idaho would touch with a ten foot pole. I would know I have lived there over 8 years. Thats some quasi Canadian accent. She sounds more Fargoish than anything to me.
I'm pretty sure that's the universal accent of an idiot. Canada, Idaho, and even Alaska... we won't look down on you because of Miss Teen South Carolina.. oops I mean Guberner Pfailin.
She should've just done the whole interview from his lap. Hilarious. Reminds me of Mack and Chris Simms after the 2001 RRS. Katie Couric: Over the weekend, Gov. Palin, you said the U.S. should absolutely launch cross-border attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan to, quote, "stop the terrorists from coming any further in." Now, that's almost the exact position that Barack Obama has taken and that you, Sen. McCain, have criticized as something you do not say out loud. So, Gov. Palin, are you two on the same page on this? Sarah Palin: We had a great discussion with President Zardari as we talked about what it is that America can and should be doing together to make sure that the terrorists do not cross borders and do not ultimately put themselves in a position of attacking America again or her allies. And we will do what we have to do to secure the United States of America and her allies. Couric: Is that something you shouldn't say out loud, Sen. McCain? John McCain: Of course not. But, look, I understand this day and age of "gotcha" journalism. Is that a pizza place? In a conversation with someone who you didn't hear … the question very well, you don't know the context of the conversation, grab a phrase. Gov. Palin and I agree that you don't announce that you're going to attack another country … Couric: Are you sorry you said it? McCain: … and the fact … Couric: Governor? McCain: Wait a minute. Before you say, "is she sorry she said it," this was a "gotcha" sound bite that, look … Couric: It wasn't a "gotcha." She was talking to a voter. McCain: No, she was in a conversation with a group of people and talking back and forth. And … I'll let Gov. Palin speak for herself. Palin: Well, it … in fact, you're absolutely right on. In the context, this was a voter, a constituent, hollering out a question from across an area asking, "What are you gonna do about Pakistan? You better have an answer to Pakistan." I said we're gonna do what we have to do to protect the United States of America. Couric: But you were pretty specific about what you wanted to do, cross-border … Palin: Well, as Sen. McCain is suggesting here, also, never would our administration get out there and show our cards to terrorists, in this case, to enemies and let them know what the game plan was, not when that could ultimately adversely affect a plan to keep America secure. Couric: What did you learn from that experience? Palin: That this is all about "gotcha" journalism. A lot of it is. But that's okay, too. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/29/eveningnews/main4487826.shtml
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/30/eveningnews/main4490788_page2.shtml#ccmm Cant find it on youtube yet but the transcript for a new part of the interview is above... Highlights: - confusing answer about man causing global warming or not - Palin does not support the morning after pill, refuses to say if she thinks it should be illegal - believes that being gay is a choice - keeps trying to claim that her personal opinion doesnt matter when it comes to things like abortion or gays... but at the same time refuses to say what she thinks the law should be..

She has remained friends with a woman even after learning of her lesbianism. These remarks are consistent with her past statements on homosexuality. Importantly, she doesn’t define her friend by her sexuality: “She’s not my gay friend, she is one of my best friends.” That’s how I hope my straight friends see me. How we all should hope our straight friends see us. This seems in fitting with the “live and let live” spirit of Alaska, something I’d like to see become increasingly regnant in the Republican Party. With the prominence of John McCain and Sarah Palin in the GOP, that seems to be becoming increasingly likely. We know how John McCain treats friends and colleagues when he learns they’re gay. His running mate has the same attitude.[/rquoter]
basso, have you started to realize that you are the only McCain supporter that even bothers to post in this thread anymore? Palin continues to make a complete fool of herself to the point where it is mocking our election process. Seriously, she is ruining what makes our country great. I don't see, and obviously even some of McCain's staunchest supporters do as well, how you can continue to make excuses for how completely ****ing stupid this woman sounds.
How positively liberated of her. She's so progressive. Yes Sarah Palin offers this nation such promise. We know John McCain treats colleagues in such a way that when asking them for favors such as votes on a bailout plan, they don't really listen to him.
Basso, I'm not sure that most gays would agree with your 'gay patriot' Saying that homosexuality is a choice is a very extreme position in American politics today, Bush and Mccain have never went that far and said that.
You know, every time I think the McCain campaign has "jumped the shark" and can't top the ludicrous, bizarre nature of the road John McCain has taken for this election, he puts on his wetsuit again, some flippers, grabs Palin by the knot of hair on top of that empty head of hers and charges for the shark again. End result? Come November 4th, that shark is going to get their timing down and gobble up that pair of bozos.
One can only hope. I know I am just plain sick and tired of this incessent whining from the McCain folks. Answer the question. If you say something stupid, make amends and roll on. Thankfully, I think the american public as a whole is sick of this bull**** as well. If you can't handle the campaign, you don't deserve to win. The insight you reference deckard, is quite possibly the best example - neither of the two answer or explain anything - they just b**** about the question and make up contorted "meanings" from simplistic verbage. Which is even more ludicrous given McCain's noted flip flops about the very same question!!!
