Careful, R2K... you wouldn't want to toss too much truth around here. Some folks might have coronaries!
I think one leadership quality that she has exhibited is the refusal to accept any responsibility for what happened herself. It's all someone else's fault. Her ability to not take any of the blame and responsibility for her own actions is truly amazing.
actually, McCain was the culprit. The double-talk express from Az selected the hillbilly, one whom he does know that well. u'd be wrong. The double-talk express from Az lost due to his behaviors, (1) the firing and re-hiring of Phil Gramm who called Americans whiners, (2) on the heels of the mortgage industry meltdown, declaring that the economy is fundamentally strong, (3) suspending his campaign, in the midst of the ecnomic meltdwon then, inexplicably, showed up for the first debate against O, etc. the most important reason, McCain could never overcome the Bush light branding.
I didn't say she was the ONLY problem. McCain had his own flaws, made several strategic errors and was pulled down by Bush. But any chance he had of making a comeback was destroyed by Palin. The economic crisis magnified her drain on the ticket. Maybe the final result would have been the same but I think the vote would have been a lot closer.
Palin's remark about class is probably true. The example that proves it is not Carolyn Kennedy, but Dubya who had a similar style, and lack of information regarding current affairs. Her post election behavior is not helping her at all. She is looking more and more like Joe the Plumber.-- a bizaare campaign created distraction that will fade away.
For some of us, that's all Palin ever was. She will be a footnote on the 2008 election and doesn't have anywhere close to the depth needed to be taken as a serious national politician. Quite frankly, I don't see how that wasn't obvious from the beginning.
what's sad is that according to some polls see is a front runner for the republican nomination in 2012. that is pathetic.
I disagree here - she certainly ended up a hindrance, but without her, he was never in it. He needed a miracle, and she was the only reason the GOP base even got remotely excited. Obama could have lost 8% of the vote in every single state and would still have won - that's 8% of the total vote, not his votes. Basically, 15% of his voters could have not shown up and he'd have still won. Without Palin, he maybe picks up a few more moderates, but many of the core right just stays home. They've already turned on him pretty harshly - many of them were just voting for her.
I don't see how a Kennedy comparison is in any way valid, considering that Palin was actually chosen as a candidate for a major party while Kennedy has just said that she'd like to be chosen for a position.
We really don't know for sure. It's quite possible if the "core" voters concluded they could make the difference, they may have come out en mass at the last minute and voted for McCain. Imagine a scenario where McCain trailed Obama by 6-7 points going into the final week. That's what I think was very possible. Polls showed that Palin became an incredible drag on the ticket, especially because of the financial meltdown. Without her, I don't think McCain would have fallen quite as far into the cellar. Just a thought.
Face it team -- she's not going anywhere -- the media flips out on her every comment. This is of course highly ironic considering her current whining.
