Make no mistake about it, this disgusting story is being pushed from high ranks in the Obama campaign. It is receiving headline coverage at DailyKos -- a trusted site by the campaign that is frequently used for strategic leaks.

Obama himself runs a high risk of alienating women by stooping to these tactics.

unless a spokesperson directly from the obama campaign coming out directly making the accusation, people can say whatever they want to say on the internet.

That'd be like saying it is getting headline news at clutchfans. Just because a dumbass created an idiotic, doesn't mean it is a big story at clutchfans. Ditto diary at dailykos.

    Oh, look who it is!

doesn't matter if it's true or not. the internet is a dangerous beast and this rumor is spiraling all over. if nobody from the mccain camp addresses this, this will go into the heads of many voters questioning her integrity.

remember, mccain only met her ONCE face-to-face so it is not out of the question if he doesn't know about this.

again, the internet can spread things like a tornado, truth or lies. the mccain camp has to address this someway soon.

    *idiotic thread

A shame, because there is so much other crap that makes the McCain/Palin presidency such a bad idea over something stupid like this.

A simple DNA test would kill this rumor.

meeting a person once and choosing her as your VP shows bad judgement. i'm surprised obama hasn't tapped into this.

even when you interview for jobs, sometimes it takes 2-3 face-to-face interviews. this dude picked palin on one face-to-face meeting 6 months before and a phone call 2 days before.

this is our potential president controlling the military in a world crisis? man, he could go to war with the quickness for no reason under this guy.

I saw on one of the news programs today that Obama's campaign started to attack her, but Obama then said that they weren't going to do that, so the attacks never really got off the ground.

well, it's not on the front page now.

Did you read the comments? It reads much like this thread with a bunch of people saying the story is either ridiculous, not worthy of discussion or out of bounds.

(kos does have a lot more women on and there are several sub-threads about pregnancy experiences, which will probably not be replicated here.)

There is nothing in the response of that thread that suggests any kind of push by kos or anyone to make this a national story.

And if he met her a whole bunch more face to face he would have figured it out?

Do you really think he didn't have his staff do any vetting on these personal red herrings, like this BS story or the trooper gate thing?

The issue with Palin isn't any sort of 'gotcha' BS, and as long as people talk about this story and disseminate it, this will obfuscate the real issue.

The real issue is she is a freaky militant fundamentalist Christian who is the 'James Dobson candidate'. Some people will see this as a positive. Some will not.

Who the f*** cares if she is cute? Who the f*** cares if she has a three headed love child with her daughter? Who the f*** cares if she has a giant horse strapped from the ceiling so she can get freaky with it, 'Catharine the Great' style? Who the f*** cares about some personal BS story.

    IT DOESN'T MATTER!
    IT DOESN'T MATTER!
    IT DOESN'T MATTER!

Please, people, stop pretending like running for the President of the USA is like an episode of the Real World, voting for the Prom King and Queen, or some TMZ special exposé. All this crap makes 'What Clinton did with his cigar' seem like the deepest, most relevant policy question ever. Any Democrat who worries about this crap is implicitly and fully lending their support to the Clinton witch hunt as a valid exercise of political process.

I’ve tried to stay out of this thread in the hope that it will die, but some of you poor, misguided souls don’t seem to know any better. This doesn’t matter and it only distracts from the real issues. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THERE ISN’T ONE SHRED OF REAL EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THIS CRAZY ACCUSATION. If you post your concerns about this nonissue you are IMPLICITLY validating and endorsing T_J's 'Obama, limos, cocaine, and gay sex' thread.

And if you like ‘gotcha politics’ you should probably let the adults play with the nice men and women in Washington and instead spend your time worrying about whether Brittney looks good in a bikini again, or whether Lindsay Lohan should try and work things out with her dad over her lesbian girlfriend.

I highly doubt the pick was done after him meeting her once, and that was it. Do you not think that someone in the McCain camp grilled her ass on anything that could come up with her past? I'm sure they know whats at stake and any past behavior is game to come up. Just because they only had one face to face meeting doesn't mean her past wasn't double checked and he pulled her name out of a hat. There was a whole team to suggest and question possible VP candidates, for both camps.

I'm sure McCain's people asked her but they can't just take her word for it. Vetting is a very intrusive and invasive process involving more than just interviewing the candidate. They should have turned over every single stone to see if there was any truth to it. If they did not and this somehow turns out to be true (which most of us agree is doubtful), the election is over. In fact, if this story or the trooper story generates enough smoke without ever being proven either way, the election is over.

    Eh, not so much...

Numerous Alaskan Republicans were caught by surprise because nobody asked them anything about Palin.
