I apologize for the confusion, I was just trying to state something. I was trying to say that this act of treason should have been made clear to this woman to begin with. If she knew the punishment for it I am very sure she would not have done it, it is hypocritical to not make the consequences clear and then expect someone to agree(or forcefully agree) to the consequence(hope I am making sense) that is not how Islam is. In Islam one has to be clear and precise and not beat around the bush even if it means their reputation is at stake.

To clarify, I am not a religious scholar so please don't take my words in stone, this is what I believe should have been done.

So you are claiming to be

    1) a muslim
    2) educated

    but

    3) you still agree with the punishment in this case.

That alone shows that the problem IS with islam.

That is the weakest excuse for justifying execution I have ever heard. Next, under that rationalization, execution will be okay for rolling one's eyes in disbelief.

But in your original post, you said Pakistan was not under an "Islamic system."

Blasphemy, saying words, is not an offense - anywhere, or for any reason - where execution is justified.

It doesn't matter where you live, or what contracts you've signed -killing someone for saying words that you don't like is never justifiable.

And, if you try to justify it, you just end up looking like a fanatic.

Its not under the Islamic system, but the people of that village believe it to be some sort of Islamic Sharia (However far from the fact that may be). Hence penda45 is saying that IF that was the law of the village, and that is what they really believed, she should have been informed and educated on that. Even though he doesn't believe it is an Islamic state, and that the law itself is ridiculous.

All Hitler did was say words...
All Saddam did was say words...

I am not justifying what is happening here, just wanted to point out that it is the words of man that cause violence and wars, and at times they may justify execution.

So do you think that if she "had been informed and educated", the sentence is correct?

Do you actually expect a response to that unbelievable display of stupidity and ignorance?

I should correct myself. It is not the dumbest post of the day.

It is one of the dumbest posts EVER made on this BBS.

Dude, come on now. That post is incredibly ignorant.

There is a difference between saying words (Asia Bibi), and giving murderous orders (Hitler).

    I didnt compare the two.

Obviously that is not my intention. If you step back and look at the post I clearly mention that I am not referring to Mrs. Bibi

And Btw this is all moot considering the execution has been halted.

If your point is that "saying words" may in some cases "justify execution" (Hitler, Saddam), and you are not referring to Asia Bibi in any way, then how does that have anything to do with this thread?
