Exactly. So do I. Too bad ATW doesn't realize that radicals are twisting true Islam and the Quran to hurt other people, failing to realize that true Muslims don't use the Quran or Islam in that light. Hence, nothing in Islam needs to be changed/reformed. The followers? They need an awakening of some sort.

 

Radicals twist everything, that is not what ATW is saying, it is the acceptance by a large portion of the followers of the radicals and their thinking that is the issue.

Islam is at a crossroads, it has happened in all other religions too, some die out, some adapt and change.

Islam will do one of those two as well, if history is any indicator of the future.

Furthermore, other posters have clearly highlighted passages from the Quran and the hadith that clearly show a message of peace and forgiveness. In fact, the very example of Jesus (and other prophets as well) being forgiving is in there as well.

To compare the actions of "prophets" to everyday people is a bit crazy, even for a follower of a religion, don't you think?

This is equally crazy from the other side. There's a reason why so many people in the world have a problem with many outdated Islamic philosophies. While I still think the general muslim population needs to be educated so they stop adhering to crazy policies, there's an underlying problem in the religion itself.

This isn't true at all. Islam reeks of underlying tones of intolerance. All major religions do. This isn't a knock on only Islam. When you have major monotheistic religions all claiming only one can be right, there are bound to be problems. To pretend that Islam is not in that category is ridiculous. It's hard when you've been raised in a certain way to step back and rationally think about things. It's even harder to admit when something that defines you has flaws. But, it's hard to ignore the issues that persist in Islamic views. They should be better addressed by the muslim community instead of just blaming radicals ever time.
