Wine is desirable and to be avoided. That's not contradictory.

Uncontrolled sex is desirable, but the consequences are not (STD's, unwanted pregnancy, etc). That's not contradictory.

My issue is your argument. You have not shown how it applies here. You seem to be making YOUR argument fit actually. You seem to be doing all the jumping through hoops here.

Yes - but this is all practical life advice. Some might make sense, some might not. And it was written down by several men over a certain timespan. There are contradictions. To try to go to great lengths to dispute that fact just makes one less credible and shows how brainwashed the person who does that is.

 

Actually, personally, I don't think one can expect proof. If people want to believe what they believe, and it helps to make them better people, I am happy with that. I will not try to persuade them to not believe or ridicule what they believe in.

I have a problem with it when people become fanatical about what they believe in to a point where they view those who do not share their beliefs as lesser people (e.g., "dhimmis"/"infidels") and treat them that way ("you insulted what I believe in, now I will be outraged/you will be sentenced to death/you will be lynched/etc. etc.). That is when I will start to get under their skin if I have to, and will question their belief system because their actions show that something is wrong with their belief system.

 

this is why pakistan will NEVER succeed technologically, educationally, etc.

All religions are hypersensitive, that's a moot point.

Islam's just the only one that is an established theocracy in multiple countries. So it actually has the power to bring crazy policies to fruition. Don't think this type of crime is limited to being prejudiced against other religions either. In Pakistan, practicing certain sects of Islam will cause you to be persecuted and executed...

 

The Roman Catholic church had this power one time back in the day too, but people wisened up.

If you look at the example of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), he never once had anyone executed for insulting him. The people who did this killing are the ones who are truly insulting him and straying from his example...
