Trump just does crap out of his revenge mentality instead of having the capability to think rationally. His tariffs aren't going to drive down inflation nor cut our electric bills in half. Both promises he made that were his rally pitches. Farmers won't benefit, and neither will auto makers or the taxpayers. Meanwhile Trump will cut taxes for the billionaires, and wheel and deal for personal favors, and his business ventures at home and abroad, with less oversight into illegal activity.

If not everything needs a historical precedence. How can you confidently say tariffs will raise domestic manufacturing jobs when economic experts say the opposite?
Like if there are no historic example of tariffs ever raising domestic manufacturing job, what makes this time the one? Blind trust in trump?

This is beyond moronic. Can't trust economists on tariffs negative effect, but blind trust on trump the man know for lying and overexaggerating.

Just bc it never happen in history, there is a potential it will happen is the stupidest reason to gamble the US economy and folks lives.

All tariffs ever do is raise money for the government, and they always do so at the expense of the people. It's not debatable, it's like saying 2+2 is suddenly gonna be 5 to say otherwise.

I could almost stomach this if Trump has some grand plan to utilize this money, but we know his administration is dead set on cutting every service possible that may benefit the people paying for these tariffs. It's just another form of the great grift, steal money from the people and put it in the hands of the wealthy and his cronies.

MAGA will send the world into a depression just to own the libs.

The stock market saw gains during Biden’s term, anticipating Trump’s return. Now, it’s dipping over concerns that a Democrat might return in the future.

    Read a book libtards.

The only way to keep the stock market happy is to pray more and make Trump ruler for life. As long as there is the threat of a DEMONCRAT taking office, it will punish us.

His vision is that the tariff will pay for beautiful things. He called upon how great McKinley was when he talked about tariffs.

The public narratives you hear (legally why they levy tariffs, and politically, it's to bring back jobs) are marketing. The true intentions or his vision are clearer when you listen to him speak and read between the lines. My guess is he believes in...
    1. Tariffs as a huge revenue source for the U.S. federal government (it's basically a federal sales tax).
    2. Reduce government spending (he sees as overly large and inefficient)
    3. Significantly cutting income taxes.
    4. Using tariffs to replace some of the lost revenue to provide beautiful benefits.
I think that's his grand vision. Regardless of what anyone says to him, or doesn’t say to him, unlike his first term, there’s no one in his corner telling him “no.” He’s determined to push this through, convinced that this is what will truly "make America great again"

Now, unfortunately, the math doesn’t work out, and we have historical data on what tariffs do. We will all suffer from this, but a segment will be very successful: the oligarchs. Savvy investors who are prepared for this shift could sustain or even profit, though they will be in the minority.

p.s. no one can read mind and I can be 100% wrong; it won't be the first time; i know nothing about investing

Well, he's correct in that the Great Depression, along with a world war, led to decades of prosperity and global influence. It was, however, ushered in by Democratic votes and policies.

Whatever occurs, you and your alter ego @strosb4bros will find a way to simultaneously declare it a success because lord Trump works in mysterious ways.

Trump doesn't know much about history really, and so he makes up his own limited version of history most of the time, which is often tainted by racial or political bias of events. So, expecting him to learn from mistakes documented throughout history, is just something he can't do by himself. He also believes he is smarter than everyone else, so taking critical advice is another thing he can't do well. His inflated ego and pure lack of concern for anyone else but himself is a dangerous thing.

He is also the type who just does stuff on a whim, in his constantly flowing new get rich quick schemes, and doesn't have any problem taking or risking other people's money to make a fortune, especially if they bear most of the brunt when things fail. When things don't work out he just points the blame to someone else. The scariest part about a man with sociopathic traits is when they use power to act out of anger or revenge, and hurt everyone else around them in the process, in both their impulsive or plotted actions. The effects of retaliation are often felt by many. A Trump run world is a stupid, ugly, and hateful world, where people are the sacrificial lambs, and the slaughtered ones, on his neverending path to seeking his big pots of gold and riches.

Floating the idea of eliminating federal income taxes and using money from tariffs. I’m guessing he still has that in his back pocket to play later.
