The only reason Asian car makers are making EVs in USA is cuz of the strict made in USA rules that the IRA had in them. The only reason we're seeing 100+ new battery plants open up in the midwest is because of the generous subsidies we have in the IRA which helps offset half of manufacturing cost.

Yikes, hopefully things will be resolved before peak summer usage. Without power from Canada, peaker plants will have to operate, leaving less reserve capacity for summer peaks.

The stupid thing is that this higher price is not something that will drive new investment in power plants in the US since an agreement between US and Canada could be struck at any time. So no one will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to build new plants when there is no long term clear path for ROI.

So people will just have to suffer.
