Ah, good comp. I was able to find a few snippets leading into his Maggette's draft class (1999) and they do sound similar to Whitmore. Praised for his explosive athleticism and driving ability, but some questions about his jump shot and decisionmaking.
looking at his stats he scored over 13,000 points was likely around the 175th all time scorer in the nba when he retired and didnt get a single award, honor or championship of any kind. still a millionaire though
Pretty wild that Maggette never made a single all-star game. He was good enough to get into one or two of them. Competition must just have been too stiff during his best seasons.
He isn't likely to be a superstar. Amen might. Amen has a bigger chance of being a bust. Amen can't even shoot at the age of 20.
Firstly Thanks Doc! Always love it when you post! This would fit. We've "officially" worked out both Black and the Thompson twins and although we haven't Walker he plays right here in Houston and I'm sure we've seen him many times. Plus we probably have really good intel from Coach Sampson on his strengths and weaknesses! Personally I'm glad if Black's in consideration for us. I'm unsure of both the Thompson twins and Whitmore for different reasons. And Black's ONLY 6 months older than Whitmore (18.9 - 19.4).
Smokescreen season has us thinking Whitmore... No offense to the Doc but I don't buy it. 2-3-4 is going to be some combo of Henderson, Miller and Amen.
Battle of the insiders - @Doc Rocket says Whitmore, @ch44 says Amen. Draft day can't come soon enough. I want to see some trades that day. Obviously the right ones.
I believe Doc is giving his take on who he would draft. Seems to like Cam. Not sure he’s trying to give a crystal ball of what the front office will do. since our prayers weren’t answered by Wembanyama, we may have to settle for an Amen.
1. Doc's always been precise with wording. "Doubt many people would nothing wrong with a little revival." sounds like a typo. was it on purpose? the first part "doubt many people would..." doesn't even seem to respond to the quoted post. you guys can help me out here... 2. Capitalizing Renewal - Renewal is the key term here if Doc is capitalizing. quick google definition of renewal "an instance of resuming an activity or state after an interruption." could be a hint of returning to the rockets after a period of time away. I think this means harden. 3. the reference to batman was a response to Jontro's post, however Doc didn't quote that post. instead he quoted Jacoby's post twice... almost like twins...then his response... "methink not." 4. "Not because he’s too old to make my team. Older people, older Texas people, they’re good people." sounds like the rockets are interested in veteran players, from TX by birth, school, or former Rockets. my first thought was Beverley who is an older former rocket and said recently he's got a good chance of returning (or maybe as Doc would say Renewing?) this summer. 5. obviously a hint to drafting Whitmore. How'd I do @Doc Rocket ?
