The Rockets are likely done for the summer in terms of major moves. Bima can probably take a break until December when mid-season trade talks start.
Hasn't been determined what MLE was used as only needs to be" announced" if Rockets do something that requires them to go over or stay under apron. Apron is 4 million over luxury tax threshold so they have 3.5 million before over apron.
We didn't have the Mini MLE to use. We used that on Smith last year. We used nearly the full MLE and left some so that HOU doesn't get hard capped. I don't know how we are going to sign Harrell this season but it's going to be low and for 2 years. Vet Mins for Everyone!
you are confused. The mini mle is for every single year but the biannual (BAE) is not and that was what we used on Smith last year. KJ's contract is to the amount of the mini mle and the rules don't demand us to determine what we are using yet. So it's most probable that we will use the full mini mle and vet mins two year signings for Harrell so we don't get hard capped.
I believe he is referring to the taxpayer MLE as the mini MLE. Rockets either used full taxpayer MLE or partial non-taxpayer MLE for KJ. Rockets could still use rest of non-taxpayer MLE on Harrell and Williams (possibly Todorovic) which would evoke a hard cap or make trades to go over apron that would eliminate rest of MLE/S&T possibilities. Rockets have time to decide what pathway they are going.
So let's say the league suspends Lawson for 10 games without pay. Does it reduce Lawson's salary for luxury tax calculation? In my example the 10 game suspension would reduce his salary by about $1.5 million. Just curious.
No. When a player is suspended the salary is paid normally from the team but instead goes to a charity of the nba choice. It counts the same for the team, and the cap whether he's suspended or not.
When was the last time the league suspended a player for 10 games for drinking and driving? I'm guessing possibly 3. I could be wrong but we will see.
I've heard 5 games is the likely response if the NBA does anything considering he's being doing 30-day rehab. That said, I've heard it is his 4th DUI. Considering he's an athlete with name recognition, how many times did it take him to be pulled over for driving under the influence to get 4 DUIs?
tSerious question: What are the cap implications if Ty Lawson dies in a car crash? Will this have an impact on the Rockets trying to pursue Kevin Durant?
