I think its a great move. There is no harm in keeping him on the IR and then activate him whenever needed. There is no way we will go perfect health wise for an entire season. He can be a great game day starter. Based on what I've seen and know he is better than Jacobsen, Sura, Ryan B, and Azubiuke. But I dont understand where we got any additional money to sign him?
Guys are really going to be fighting for a roster spot. I think that's a very good thing. Although I am a bit curious as to whether this move foreshadows another move in the near future.
I wonder why the rockets would be bothered? Possibly it gives him a chance to showcase his talent for other teams!
Grow up. This is not the first time JVG admitted to a mistake. Aside from Mike James, he cut Chuck Hayes and then said, "Oops." Now he is admitting again that he cut the wrong guy, Padgett instead of Bowen. At least JVG is rectifying his mistakes. Padgett is a great guy to have coming off the bench. Now, please, Jeff, get us a big bigman to groom behind Mutombo.
Remember, we can have 15 players on the roster with 12 active for each game. This is a very good move for us because Padgett's contract is non-guaranteed. It shows how much our depth has improved that he goes from being in and out of the rotation (2004/05) to maybe not even making this year's team. Welcome back Scott! You never should have left and we never should have signed Rybo.
wbps coming back in full effect. this undoubtedly means that jvg will be fired midseason and then sloan with quit the jazz to coach the rockets. that was a joke btw.
What's about all the excitment? Padget will be signed for the training camp and be cut before the season start.
Why is everyone complaining about this? At worst he will get cut and not cost us anything. If Sura retires, I think he's on the team. Jacobsen isn't very good and we have too many guards anyway with Bonzi. It basically comes down to Padgett vs Bowen, and I'd like to think that everyone here would go with Padgett.
Exactly, he's a perfect specialist for this team and he's already proven it. I believe JVG actually said last year that he regretted letting Padgett go. I'm excited that he may make the team this year.
ah yes...lets play on the debunked urban legend that says VG hates rookies. nice play I see it as fulfilling what they said they wanted for the team....guys 6'8" and taller who can shoot from outside. Novak, Battier, Padgett can all co-exist on this team...Novak will get time as long as he deserves it...just like Padgett.
Scott Padgett was a reasonably good spot up shooter, when he was playing for the Utah Jazz. when he came to the Rockets he might be described as a decent sooter, with few games in which he excelled, but nothing to write home about. Since then his performance has reached a depth that one might believe that he isn't good enough to be on any decent NBA team, nevermind one that is trying to contend!! Can anyone please provide the stats to match my suspicions?
