Who doesn't give him credit for his wins? I've never heard anyone knock Manny's win loss record. Morales, MAB, JMM (even if it's questionable it counts as a win) Cotto, Clottey, Hatton all count as great wins in my opinion. The DLH he fought was completely weight drained.
Nope. According to that guy, it can never happen. Whoever vetoed it for the Mosley-Mayweather fight must have been on crack!! Also, never said I was against better drug testing. Unless me thinking Manny is not juicing means I'm against drug testing. A lot of people. People say Margarito ended Cotto's career, Hatton was not the same after the Floyd KO, MAB and Morales were not the same after their wars. Basically people saying Manny's biggest wins were against fighters that were shells of their former self. Like I said before, both Manny and Floyd don't get enough credit for their wins.
The Pacquiao/Morales trilogy was an outstanding one. Morales dominated the first fight for the most part. I've never heard that. The first win over Barrera was considered a huge upset. I Barrera was not the same fighter for the second fight but it's still a quality win. I agree on Hatton though. Plenty of people don't give Floyd or Manny enough credit for those two wins. People can say what they want about Hatton but he punt a beating on KT and his only two losses are two boxings best two fighters. Sadly, I think Margarito did take a lot out of Cotto but he's still a very credible opponent. On boxing boards they both get their due but in areas like this fans have not heard about half of those guys.
Interesting take on Mayweather Pac http://queensberry-rules.com/2010-articles/may/the-maestro-and-the-rock-star-the-contrary-combative-styles-of-floyd-mayweather-and-manny-pacquiao.html
All those fights at the time Manny was a underdog and was expected to rollover quickly. Especially the DLH fight he was expected to run over a nobody like Manny at the time. Thats probably why he didn't care about the weight drain.
I have never actually taken a post of the internet and sent it to a bunch of people until yours. People thought I was making it up until I sent them here to see for themselves. It is so utterly ridiculous that I figured I had gotten trolled until this response.
Going by this logic, didn't the 5 losses(Marquez twice) took a lot out of Manny? I count the 2 extra from the Marquez fight because Manny did take a heavy beating and EVERYONE thought Marquez won. And the 2nd Marquez fight was right before the DLH, so this was a perfect opportunity DLH to finish manny off, but he didn't.
http://www.thestar.com/sports/boxing/article/829705--roach-pacquiao-set-to-call-mayweather-s-bluff Published On Mon Jun 28 2010 Morgan Campbell Sports Reporter Trainer Freddie Roach says pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao is ready to drop his objections to pre-fight blood testing and set up a November superfight with Floyd Mayweather. While Mayweather’s detractors have suggested the five-division champ is avoiding Pacquiao and imposed the extra drug testing demands as a smokescreen, Roach says his fighter is prepared to clear the air. “At this point I feel that Manny is going to agree to everything,” Roach said. “That’s our bluff. We’re going to call his bluff. We’ll see…I can’t speak for Manny, I can’t speak for (Bob) Arum but I feel the fight will happen because Manny is going to call his bluff and say ‘let’s do it.’” Roach is in Toronto this week with protégé Ana Julaton, who challenges for the WBO women’s 122-pound title at Casino Rama Wednesday night. He pointed out that Pacquiao, who Monday was sworn in as a congressman in the Philippines, hasn’t officially signed off on the stringent drug testing Mayweather has demanded. When management teams for the two fighters met in late 2009 to negotiate a superfight in Las Vegas between the two biggest names in boxing, they quickly agreed on everything from the date (March 13) to the purse split (50-50) to which fighter would receive top billing (Mayweather). But negotiations broke down over drug testing. Mayweather has said he won’t fight Pacquiao until the seven-division champ agrees to Olympic-style doping control, which allows for random urine and blood tests until the day off the fight. Pacquiao wasn’t obligated to agree to any testing beyond the post-fight urine and blood tests the Nevada State Athletic Commission requires. Rather than compromise on blood testing both fighters walked away from what would have been the biggest payday of their careers (estimates ranged from $25 million to $40 million per fighter), and largest boxing spectacle in a generation. But Roach says now that Pacquiao, 31, is officially a politician, he understands he needs to do what politicians do – give the people what they want. And right now boxing fans want Pacquiao and Mayweather, even if that means extra drug testing. “Manny’s now a congressman. He’s going to agree with everything Mayweather wants,” Roach said. “That’s why I think the fight will happen.” Pacquiao has a fight scheduled for Nov. 13 but has neither a venue nor an opponent, and since dismantling Shane Mosley on May 1 Mayweather has remained silent about his future.
They're supposedly putting the ball back in Mayweather's court. I don't believe Pacquiao's being unreasonable with regards to having a cut-off. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has also started investigating whether blood tests should be incorporated into their testing procedures and early returns have them also believing that a cut-off is necessary. I guess Pacquiao just wants to have this fight then immediately retire afterwards.
I don't think it will happen. Floyd was/is scared or he would have never requested these ridiculous tests anyway. He'll come up with a new excuse now.
I don't usually feed trolls, but wow... Ok so, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is an average Joe? Because "average joes" can become world class athletes, and have hall of fame careers right? Happens alllll the time. He COULD go after the winner of Cotto/Foreman? Last I checked that fight happened. Cotto is now a Jr.Middleweight... Floyd is still a welter. Cotto would get picked apart, he has less of a chance than Manny does. Also last I had heard, Freddie Roach himself didn't want Manny to get in the ring with Shane. Freddie knows his ****, he knows Mosley would probably beat Manny. Throughout his entire career? So my guess is you have been a Manny (not boxing) fan for approximately 2 years. His entire career didn't start when he beat Oscar. So you take pride in the fact that Manny has fought bigger guys his "entire career" yet you are ok with him not wanting to fight Margarito because he is too big? Personally I think Manny would rip Tony's face apart, but not because of size, just because of styles. See it is this type of **** that makes me want to hate Manny Pacquiao. I genuinely like Manny, I think he is a gifted athlete and an amazing fighter. Unless he tests positive, that view of him won't change. But it is "fans" like you that make me not like the guy. Most of the people that call themselves boxing fans, are just Pacquiao fans, and they suddenly have extensive boxing knowledge. Yet they just started watching Manny when he fought Oscar. I'm not saying you can't be a Manny only fan, that is fine. But when you start talking directly out of your ass about the sport, you look like an idiot, and you make Manny fans look like idiots too. Praise Pac all you want, cheer for him, badmouth whoever, but when you start acting like you know ****, when you really don't you look stupid.
A nobody!!?? Are you ****ing serious? You have to be the most r****ded so-called boxing fan ever. So you are a BOXING fan yet you think he was a NOBODY until after he beat Oscar?! ARE YOU ****ING SERIOUS DUDE? SERIOUSLY? YOU....ARE...OUT.....OF...YOUR...****ING....MIND. You know absolute dick about boxing. somebody reply to this with a "you mad?" please.
Fight is close to being done. I would now be shocked if it didn't happen. If anyone was watching JCC Jr./Duddy (great fight even though they are both cans) you would have seen a drunk Arum nearly leak it. That was his big announcement. That said, I won't get excited until I see names on the contract but it's definitely close.
