I hope they're bringing some players. If this visit is just to iron out contract negotiations and give a physcial then they still don't know enough about his game against NBA level players, whether they be Cato or not. A private workout with our players should be mandatory in the Rockets eyes.
He is the reinforcements. When negotiating with the Chinese, you must be willing to walk away and come back with a more important person. They like titles, and respect the fact the first group had to negotiate within limits defined by an absent boss. Then, when that boss comes later, he can cut the final deal. At least, this is the way it worked with opium.
Not quite out of the camp completely, but I'm having second thoughts on acquiring Ming. The Sacramento series certainly showed that an all-around team can beat the Lakers.
Yeah, right up until they time... they, uhhh... lost. Jump shooting fluid (for heyp) well fundamentalled euros can take a team, I guess, to the western conference finals.... but I've only seen great Centers and one god of gods win the pie, since, errr... 1991. Since we're up to bat, we don't really have a choice.... or do we... hmmm... Draft night, the chat room is buzzing, Stern approaches the podium. *Ahem*. Ladies and Gentleman, with the Number One Pick in the 2002 NBA draft, the Houston Rockets... wha?? the Houston Rockets....... pass?
p.s. I forgot to mention that we, of course, don't have a well rounded team that can contest w/ Sacramento or the Lakers. But... bs basketball or not, I don't see a player better designed for Rudy's offense than Ming. He's got the shot. Now if Francis can stay in one piece...
