How did this become a "critcize America" thread? I thought this was about some show on the History channel or something? Timing, Heretic, etc. must have clicked on the wrong thread in accident.

What exactly are you trying to say? None of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi. North Korea already has nukes, not just attempting to acquire them. Saddam has a grudge and North Korea is threatening nuclear war, has sold Scud missiles, has tested a missile over Japan, and I believe is considered the #1 proliferator of WMD. Iraq expanded into Kuwait and at the time had the third largest military in the world and launched a bunch of scuds into Israel that in a new war will all be armed with chem/bio weapons. Iraq is not a comparable threat to North Korea and I don't buy our ease of kicking their ass as justification for doing it when North Korea could nuke Japan tomorrow and turn the world economy into a disaster just as easily as Saddam could invade to gain control over more oil.

i think north korea is not more of a threat to the american is becuz they are not muslims n even tho the n korean been enemies with the american for more than 50 years they never planned any terrorist attack to the american but the iraqis in bush 's eye is more likely going to be a terrorist harbor country if they dunt take saddam out but without anyproof n invade iraq not n korea the world will see bush is a bully n hyprocrite !!

So when is the United States going to take on the Peoples Republic of China for the abuses in Tibet? Or install a democracy in Chechnya? Or half of Africa? We only care about Iraq because they have lots of oil and if we open the spigots there, we ease our dependence on Saudi Arabia. Going for the human rights card got Jimmy Carter booted out of office and seeing Republicans play it is a bunch of hypocrisy considering the Reagan and Bush I years.

Arrrrgh! He did, B-Bob... but the treatment must have failed. I could be wrong, however. Were you at a diet clinic, fatfatcow? A smaller diet of CC.net would do the trick. And it's cheap! :)

I think the "pacifists" in the second view are frustrated and desensitized by several cases around the world where america could've done something but didn't... that in the great average over the past 30 odd years, the times when America intervened millitarily was when it had some political gain. I think these "pacifists" originally sought consistency, but are probably bitter by now and are doomed to "illogical thinking"...

But it's true to some extent. What makes this History Channel program so much different than a late night infomercial that wants us to donate some money to children in far off lands? If our imperative to attack based on "humanitarian needs" wasn't used often in an inconsistent basis, then there would be grounds of illogical thinking by these "pacifists" or the growing public ill opinion in several foreign countries.

EDIT: The public ill opinion in some countries would be illogical too...
