There i's no reason for them to go after an unproven Hill with Hansbrough and McRoberts. They are looking for a vet to start, so that their young guys can come off the bench. It's too late in the game for them to pick up a PF. In February, Dunleavy will be gone for a PF on a bad contract.
Jordan Hill + Picks for Paul George? Paul George is that swingman that we need at the three. And if we're lucky he is one of those types of players that can develop into something special.
I hope this is an opportunity for Morey to make a run at Granger, however unlikely it is that Indiana will trade him. People got excited when they thought there was a chance Chris Paul could be had; this, to me, would be even better. The Rockets have the young talent (Hill? Budinger?) and other assets to offer an enticing package. Granger could be the final piece the Rockets need, the star Morey's looking for. The Rockets should be all over this, if there's even a slight chance.
i think the whole point is to get help for Granger, which is why they told him about the move, so i'd say there's zero chance to acquire Granger unless we're giving them half the rotation.
I know Indiana has devolved as an organization but no way they give up either Granger or George for Jordan Hill. And outside of those two, no one else is worth a trade for on the Pacers.
The Rockets don't need to make anymore moves unless it's the BIG TRADE that everyone has been waiting for.
If the Rockets trade Hill they need to get a future first round pick back. Dunleavy can run the pick and roll. At worst he's a mentor for Budinger. His game is similiar to the role Budinger was given at SL. He'd also give the Rockets a big allround lineup (like the Hawks) if he plays minutes at PG. Smaller guards blow past him on defense but he's a good help defender and he can use his length to bother them. Stopping dribble penetration is more help defense. The Brooks-Martin backcourt has trouble with that and has Yao gotten into foul trouble because of it. That extra height could also help counter the Lakers's size? Another thing I'd look into is getting Magnum Rolle. He'll be that athletic shotblocking bigman the Rockets have been or are looking for for some team.
Granger would be great to get, but I think the Pacers feel they can contend in the East this year. I don't think it is worth giving up Hill for anyone else on that roster.
