Also, Scola was making double when we amnestied him and had an extra year on his contract.

Good move by the Pacers. Scola's offense is similar to West in that they can hit the midrange shot and work in the low post, albeit West is a power bruiser and Scola uses footwork. Hibbert can definitely cover for Scola's defense.

He could really help Indy, he still averaged 17/9 per 36 last year. Great bench option, similar skill set to West and a proven clutch performer.

Happy to see him on a contender where he belongs, never wanted to get rid of him but I certainly understand why we had to.

    Hill, Watson, Sloan
    Stephenson, Johnson
    George, Copeland, Hill (23rd pick)
    West, Scola
    Hibbert, Mahinmi

    Granger?

The biggest concern the Pacers headed into free agency with was depth at both guard positions. I'm not sold on Watson and Stephenson could be more effective off the bench.

I get the feeling there'll be a follow up trade with Granger for either Jennings, Eric Gordon, or some other guard.

    Luis's website guy.

Scoop shots for days! What was Scola's career high for single game scoring? I felt like he had 45 one night. Great competitor.

Luis Scola is all class and a true warrior. Flawed by his physical limitations as a defender, but the closest thing to the heart of a champion we've had in years.

I hope he is the next player to win the championship besides our Rockets.

Funny last night I was thinking about the Rockets and I was bummed how Scola was wasting away on the Suns

Glad he's going to a contender

Maybe, but I doubt it. I don't think they can afford another long term contract and will just stick with the Granger rental. Once you account for George's max, they only have a couple mil under tax for 2014-15, which they probably want to keep for Lance Stephenson, and which wouldn't be nearly enough for Jennings / Gordon type.

Actually, I'm not sure they can afford to keep Lance.

Larry Bird referred to the James Harden trade recently and said that Indiana will have to do the same. He probably mean it in the general sense of "lose players because of tax" rather than "trade star player in a rushed lopsided deal". It makes me think that at least Granger, and possibly both Granger / Stephenson could be gone and replaced on the cheap.
