ARTEST was the one who threw the first punch at the fat mexican guy . i saw the video over and over again it looked like the mexican guy was just walking on the court near artest and artest sees him and starts throwing punches.

o'neal also deserves to be arrested.

it wasnt a flagrant foul. it wasnt a hard foul.

if yao was in the post and artest shoved him in the back like that, it wouldn't have even been called a foul.

This works out perfectly for Artest. He wanted some time off anyway, and this will be great publicity for his album. The man's a genious.

It's not offensive. But it is idiotic and he has to know opposing players and fans don't like that kind of childish crap. After getting hit by the drink, he should have thought "Well, I have been acting like the biggest tool on earth. Maybe I should just chill."

Maybe in the current world of frivilous lawsuits, but I hardly consider being "assaulted" with a plastic cup of beer a legitimate assault case. I must have missed the part of the NBA Basketball Player job description where it states that players may act on their own accord against the actions of the fans. Bottom line, it was not Artest's place to defend himself against a random fan in the crowd no matter how worked up he was.

I don't think anyone is saying that only the fans or only the players are to blame, however last night's incident could have been stopped by one man, Ron Artest. If he simply got security to handle the issue, they could have regained order and finished the game, but instead he caused a virtual riot where more people than necessary got involved and where his own team will end up suffering in the long run because of suspensions that resulted from his actions.

Whatever exactly. I must have missed the memo that calling someone Mexican was derogatory.

Where's you're comment about him labeling the other guy as white? Save your PC nonsense for people that care too damn much.

Why are more people blaming Artest for the situation than Ben Wallace? Was Artest the baby in the situation, or was it in fact Wallace, who was upset over a silly mind-game foul?

You people who are saying Artest should be banned from the league are ridiculous. He did nothing to incite trouble, he layed down for ****s sake. Once again, it was an Artest mindgame, he wasn't initially trying to hurt anybody. The running into the stands incident was a matter of self defense.

What should he have done? Taken the abuse? Please.

You are surprised this hasn't happened before, right there you point out that this hasn't happened in the NBA before. This has happened multiple times recently in baseball. I never saw you condemn MLB players as a whole or even the ones actually involved in brawls the way you are NBA players. Why is it a surprise that it hasn't happened before in the league without a history of an incident like this, but just an anomaly in the league where it has happened? And you wonder why people accuse you of being prejudiced, you just said all NBA players are thugs who would be working at a fried chicken restaurant if it weren't for the NBA.

Somebody else dropped Kobe's name. I dont' know what he has to do with this. If Kobe did rape that girl, it's not because he's from the ghetto and a thug. The guy grew up in Italy and speaks multiple languages. He's more cultured than the majority of us. If he raped that girl, it's because he's a rapist.

Ron Artest didn't charge into those stands because he's from the ghetto or listens to rap music, it's because he's crazy. The guy has been to therapy for anger management issues.

http://www.****youanddie.com/pics/28975586.avi <---Video of Artest punching the guy in the court. The guy came at hopping and with his fists clenched. His buddy was right next to him and both were going toward Artest.

All those baseball players who didn't go to college would be brain surgeons if it weren't for baseball. That's the difference, they're doing us all a favor by playing so they have a right to go in the stands.

Another amazing fight broke out today in college football between Clemson and South Carolina. Look like people are really missing the only entertaining part of NHL: the fight.

Let it go. It's pgabriel being pgabriel, which is to say the BBS' version of Howard Dean meets Jason Whitlock. It's a well-known tactic of attempting to play the race card by saying you are, such as you can't be critical of the Olympic team without being racist because everyone on the team is black. pgabriel recently said, "I may at times be an a-hole, and I may at times overreact to criticism" ... this is just one of those times.

    Well, this was Detroit.

Good thing the game wasn't played on "Hell Night" or the fight would still be going and the place would be on fire.

Well, I'm guessing that will be the last we'll see of Ron Artest.

Stephen Jackson was being a punk getting in a few punches even though he was backing up Artest.

And J.O. was just getting clowned by the Detroit fans once he got into the action.

Why do you guys keep calling him the "Mexican guy"? I ask not because it's inherently offensive, but because it's inaccurate.

How do you know he's even hispanic - , let alone Mexican? He could easily, from the video clip, be part black, of arabic descent (which is most likely given Detroit has the country's largest arab-american populcace), or, even if he is Hispanic, be Puerto Rican, Dominican, Salvadoran, Nicaraguan, Cuban, etc etc etc.

It's like me seeing Ron Artest and calling him "that dude from Ghana who went up into the stands". Or seeing Yao and calling him "that tall Vietnamese dude"; it just doesnt make sense.

Because maybe he looks like it. When you see it for the 1st time, you aren't going to know what his race is. You just say what comes to your mind. It doesn't make you a racist if you call him Mexican. Give me a break...

No, it just makes you look ignorant if you just see a person with brownish skin and assume they are of Mexican descent. Did you even bother reading the post?

It's a big world out there, son, and if you go around walking up to every asian dude you see and calling them Japanese, you're going to a. look like an idiot, and b. piss them off.

But go ahead and keep doing it if it makes you happy.

because he looks mexican....just like when i said "the black guy in the brown sweater"...THAT particular guy looked black and his and his sweater appeared to be brown. I would have said "the white guy" if it was a white looking guy when he very well could have been an albino middle eastern guy

stop trying to make this into a big deal:rolleyes:

    Whats up SamFisher?
I'm you're clone according to others here.
For the record, that FAT dude got clocked. That dude was FAT, if you are FAT, go run or do some jumping jacks.
I think people called him "Mexican" didn't mean to be offensive. I think if they said "Hispanic" than it wouldnt be so bad.
