Good game plan Vogel.... focus all your defensive schemes around stopping the 4th best player on the Rockets.... dont worry about that James Harden or Dwight Howard guy at all... the Asian fans dont care if they score 30 each.

If they do target Jeremy, we'll just have team enforcer Patrick Beverly terminate some fools. If you want to keep two working knees, give the man some space.

Much like McHale, I'm sure the first, second, third and last question he was asked by the media in Taiwan was about Jeremy Lin. What else is he supposed to say? "Jeremy Who?" I sincerely doubt they have a special game plan for the guy, local hero or not.

Pacers aren't that good anyway? The same Pacers that damn near took out the 2 time champions last season? You're on something.

And whats up with this constant threat if either team does anything that the crowd doesnt approve they wont leave "alive"? Stfu

Have fun "containing" Lin. Did they forget we have Harden and Howard?

I doubt it's all of Vogel's defensive schemes. From a psychological standpoint it makes sense to take the opposing team's crowd out of the equation.

Normally you would do that just by containing/beating the opposing team. In this case it will require taking Lin out of the equation as well as the Rockets could very well be losing the game but the crowd will still get into the game as soon as Lin starts making some good plays.

That and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the players on the Pacers are will be looking to make bigger names for themselves by showing up Lin in Taiwan.

It's just how competitive sports work. Players are notoriously jealous of the media attention other players get, especially if they're not bona fide super star players ala Lebron, Kobe, etc.

Lin had a target on his back in NY. He'll definitely have a target on his back in Taiwan.

    Nothing new to see here.

Wait, let me recycle 100 posts I read yesterday:

"OMG, the Pacers were sent all the way to Asia on a business trip to promote the NBA, and they wanna disappoint the millions of fans who paid good $$ to see Jeremy go all Linsanity??? Bad marketing! Bad, bad marketing. . . ."

As others pointed out, Vogel said no such thing. Besides, it doesn't even make sense. If a team wants to beat the Rockets, why would you focus specifically on Lin when James Harden and Dwight Howard are perfectly capable of scoring efficiently in bunches? This isn't the 2011-12 Knicks that Lin played with when there was no one else who could create his own shot.

You are way over thinking this..... The Pacers don't care if they are in Taiwan or Tanzania. To them it is just another pre season game. Jeremy Lin is like their 4th or 5th concern. They just want to play hard, execute the plays, hopefully win and get home.

Yes, clearly when Vogel said his intention was to "limit" Lin and take the crowd out of the game he didn't really mean Lin, or the word "limit" and wasn't referring to the "crowd".

This game is one of the highest profile games of the season, with one of the largest audiences you'll likely ever see for a preseason game. It's getting saturation media coverage in Taiwan and live broadcast on CCTV in mainland China.

Yes, hardly anyone is paying attention at all.

Yes, this is a preseason game, but it's not your normal preseason game. How many standard preseason games do you see the NBA rolling out David Stern and heavyweight hall of famers?

You don't get saturation media coverage on just any run of the mill preseason game.

Plus the supposed fact that Harden totally dominates the ball while Jeremy is relegated to standing in the corner and signing autographs while waiting for the pass that never comes. Vogel has allegedly fallen for the Jeremy decoy.

You are misreading the actual quotes. There are two parts to the actual article.

    1) He did not say "lock down".
    2) He DID say that they would "limit" Lin and attempt to take the crowd out of it.

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...ch-attention-as-from-avid-pro-lin-home-crowd/

    Here is point 1.

    Here is point 2.

In other words, Vogel was misquoted to Lin, when his actual words were not "lock down" but to "limit" and keep the crowd out of the game.

I really think people just skim the articles/don't read them....
