I don't mind having Cato, even at his salary. Sometimes you have to pay for size in the NBA. If Yao misses some games, I actually feel a little bit better nowing that we have someone who could be the starter on some teams (like ours last year). I think he's done a decent job this year. We may be paying a lot for a backup center now, but I'm not sure we will be in three years--not at the rate salaries rise.

His contract is now pretty good. Rox owe less on his deal, I think, than Philly with their dork they are trying to offload, or the Jersey guy the Nets are thrilled is hurt, or Calvin (he should be in a) Booth in Seattle, or that 7'6" monster in Dallas, or White, who, if healthy, would play behind Brown, in DC.

Have I missed any other world beater '5's who are owed more than Cato is currently, and who are less valuable to their teams than KC is to the Rox?

(Shudder shudder -- less valuable, dollar for dollar, than Kelvin Cato.)

Even though the "Rumor Mill" section is attributed to Steve "BskBall" Kyler, if it is a Houston rumor, it probably came from the Rocket Guy.

Which should be enough to get this thread locked.

technically each year that goes by does = a better return, but 7 mil for 7/7 is a lot even compared to the other sloths. I guess the contract problem is small compared to his upside at this point. but, still a lot of money tied up, but will take it
