One more thing, the people that are in love with Brooks' three point shot, think about the points that generate from Lowry's assists. Brooks may score more, but Lowry makes up for it by giving other rockets great chances to score. AND he draws a ton of fouls, which hurts opposing team.
You are absolutely correct!!! Until Kenny, Horry, and Max. Recently, It is like watching a repeat of the late 80's and early 90's. Only difference between then and now was Hakeem was so quick he could beat a double or triple team even with the likes of Buck Johnson patrolling the 3 point line. I am actually stoked about seeing Martin, Brooks, Ariza, and Chase standing around the perimeter with Yao for a full season.
And AB's post entry pass is still SUSPECT. I think people are forgetful of this because Yao didn't play last year and Brooks had the green light to do his own thing and shine. It may not be saying much but I don't think Yao's had a better player feeding him the ball in his career as a Rocket than Kyle Lowry and that includes Tmac and Steve Francis at the height of their careers. It's like Lowry knows exactly where Yao wants the ball and more importantly he knows Yao's limitations in terms of the balls he can and cannot get to. With the addition of Martin as the starting SG and Yao returning I honestly think Lowry is the better fit running the starting unit. This really should be a moot point because I'd hate to lose either without getting an All star PG in return. There's nothing more exciting than going small and seeing Lowry/Brooks playing together. I hope we can see a lineup that looks like this next year assuming no changes are made. Lowry Brooks Martin Ariza Hill/Patterson
There is no proof of his post entry pass being suspect, they played great together in the playoffs..... Come on, let's not start making stuff up now.... Been a fan of the Rockets since 1972-73 season, and you? DD
Yep with PGs, it's really not about how much you score. In fact it seems the best PGs in the NBA have a suspect outside shot excluding Nash and Dwill... Rose, Paul, Rondo all have a suspect outside shot and it never has hurt them.
If Lowry played Brooks tight enough to deny the three point shot, Brooks would blow by him almost every time.
lol im not watching lowry youtube videos. im watching lowry and how the other rocket players feed off of him.
The funny thing is that Lowry is younger than Brooks and still has plenty of time to improve his shot, and has never been given a chance to start. There are plenty of players who game into the league with no 3pt shot that developed one over time. Jason Kidd and Magic Johnson for example. In fact I would say it is easier for a PG to learn to shoot outside than it is to develop good play making instincts. So if Lowry was given the starting job and the same cries for patience that Brooks fans demanded Aaron get his first year as a starter, I think he would be fine. It's just funny that some people have Brooks slated to keep improving, but the younger Lowry is some how maxed out his potential.
Isn't that expected when you raise a bench player's minutes to a starter's minutes? I don't get why that's a surprise or a negative.
Yes. How the bench feeds off of him. He is a good change of pace player. He is like a bigger Brooks that can't shoot. If he were to learn to shoot at some point, he would be a good starting point guard. Until then, he is exactly what he is....a backup change of pace point guard. In the NBA, that is the politically correct way of saying "He can't shoot"
